Summary Statement

This recruitment will be used to establish an 18-month eligibility list to fill current and future vacancies. Apply quickly;

Under minimal supervision, performs work in a structured environment to monitor and coordinate day-to-day Department and fusion center operations.

Works with state troopers, Operational Communications, other Department work units, the public, and other local, county, state, tribal, and federal entities to obtain situational awareness related to incidents and events and perform information sharing and alerting functions.

Provides timely email notifications about events meeting certain criteria around the State. Makes phone notifications to command staff and executive staff and calls out specialty work groups.

Performs other duties as assigned.This is a competitive classification.

Must successfully complete the examination process.

Essential Functions (not intended to be all inclusive)

1. Calls out various work units and personnel as requested in support of incident management incidents.

2. Facilitates outside agency requests for Department assistance.

3. Makes notifications to executive and command staff as required.

4. Completes incident notification forms.

5. Sends email notification pages when incidents occur.

6. Compiles, edits, and completes daily duty reports.

7. Communicates with the public, DPS, and other agency personnel via telephone, email, and other communications platforms.

8. Activates alerts (Silver, Amber, Blue) for other agencies when criteria are met.

9. Acts as after-hours point of contact for other specified work units.

10. Sends out notifications and information to Threat Liaison (TLO) and other intelligence units.

11. Works under occasional stressful situations, to include prioritizing incoming calls and information.

12. Uses appropriate information systems related to incidents and requests.

13. Accepts complaints on Department personnel.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities Required

Knowledge of :

1. police methods, practices, and procedures.

2. Department policies, manuals, procedures, rules, and regulations.

3. incident management protocols and procedures.

4. Department organizational structure.

5. integrated Public Alert and Warning Systems (IPAWS).

6. Department complaint acceptance process.

Skill in :

1. the operation and use of the Department's current CAD system and electronic incident / citation / reporting software.

2. the use of TRACS.

3. the use of other criminal database systems.

4. the use of one-to-many communications systems.

5. the activation of alerts using the Emergency Alert System (EAS) and Wireless Emergency Alert (WEA).

6. the use of Microsoft Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Teams.

7. coordinating complex incident response.

8. writing detailed reports, logs, and after-action reviews / briefs.

9. teaching / instructing public safety and courses / classes.

Ability to :

1. effectively coordinate response call outs and thoroughly complete incident notification forms.

2. read and follow standard operating procedures.

3. communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing, with Department personnel, other agency personnel, and the public.

4. answer Arizona Revised Statute and police procedural questions.

5. create professional cooperative networks and relationships and work in a multi-agency environment.

6. prepare clear, accurate, and grammatically correct written reports.

7. analyze situations or information and adopt quick, effective, and reasonable courses of action.

8. maintain composure and work effectively under highly stressful conditions.

9. treat persons with courtesy and respect while performing the Department's mission.

10. work independently.

11. work varying or rotating shifts to include weekends, holidays, callouts, and overtime.

12. perform basic mathematic and statistical calculations.

13. use a computer to perform daily tasks including reports, emails, forms, and database access.

Minimum Qualifications

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS :

Requires at least three (3) years of law enforcement experience as an Arizona POST certified peace officer.

Must possess and maintain a valid Arizona driver license.

WORKING CONDITIONS / PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS :

Office setting.

Ability to work irregular hours and / or respond to emergency staffing or callouts on a 24-hour basis.

Must successfully complete the examination process.

Progression to the next step requires an overall performance rating of at least Standard in the last 12 months.
