The Asset Development Engineer holds the responsibility to assist in the planning and stewardship of our Powder River Basin Subsurface Appraisal & Field Development Plans (SAPs / FDPs) to ensure efficient and timely execution of development programing.
In addition, she / he will aid in the production outlook and variance reporting to management. This role is intended to be collaborative with shared responsibilities between PRB Asset Management and Corporate Asset Execution as well as the expectation that the candidate will work closely with geoscience, reservoir, operations, regulatory, and land.
Main Job Tasks and Responsibilities
- As the asset development engineer reporting to the PRB asset manager, the candidate will focus on asset execution to ensure efficient execution of the development program.
- Coordinate with land, regulatory and operations to prepare inventory for execution readiness, including :
- Determining pad locations within topographic and regulatory constraints
- Access to midstream, infrastructure, and roads
- Coordination of permitting process
- Execution scheduling and timing
- Lead asset execution meetings
- Report execution risks to drive cross discipline solutions
- Integrate with drilling, geoscience and regulatory to help drive permitting and executability.
- Work directly with regulatory to lead / co-lead permit sundry strategy and execution timing
- Support monthly production outlook forecast and reporting.
- Direct responsibility for Subsurface Appraisal Plans (SAPs) and Field Development Plans (FDPs) maintenance, optimization, and reporting across the PRB.
- Aid in maintaining the PRB drilling and completions schedules for all assets and summarizing production / timing impacts for reporting to executives
- Support Corporate Asset Execution by maintaining key projects, visualization tools, and data pertaining to the Corporate D&C schedule to aid leadership decisioning (D&C Committee).
Education and Experience
- Degreed BSc or MSc in Engineering
- Experience, 2-5 years, possessing cross disciplinary Oil & Gas development / production technical, planning, and demonstrable asset development proficiency.
Additional Skills
- Strong organizational skills and multi-disciplinary coordination to guide workload.
- Critical thinker to ensure cross disciplinary execution items are moving forward and mitigation efforts to limit last minute changes have been planned for.
- Strong interpersonal skills for influencing, motivating, and leading multidisciplinary groups
- In-depth knowledge of oil and gas technical and operations methods and endeavors with emphasis on unconventional development and appraisal activities.

- Ability to engage and effectively communicate at all levels inside AEC.
