Job Summary
As part of the Center for Advising, Retention and Completion leadership team, the Assistant Director will help shape the advising landscape at Georgia Southern.
Alongside supervisory duties, this position will foster collaboration internally with advising staff and externally with academic departments and student success partners, with a focus on leveraging technology to reduce barriers to student completion.
Applying a deep understanding of advising processes, this position will evaluate advisor workflows to identify opportunities to improve advisor and student experiences.
The Assistant Director of Advising consistently exhibits service, collaboration, and excellence as championed by the Division of Enrollment, Marketing and Student Success.
Responsibilities
- Supervise a team of CARC coordinators
- Guide the team in navigating and implementing change management processes
- Assist the Director in developing and maintaining advisor development programs
- Collaborate on effective advising evaluation and assessment systems
- Engage in campus-wide student success, academic success, and retention activities
- Coordinate advising aspects of new student orientation
- Represent the department on various university committees
- Serve as primary leadership and coordination of DegreeWorks, Navigate360, and / or other projects and platforms
- Serve as a liaison to other University units
- Provide leadership for CARC when the Director is unavailable
- Assist the Director with budget management for CARC
Required Qualifications
Educational Requirements
Master's Degree
Required Experience
Five (5) years of advising / retention experience in a higher education setting
Preferred Qualifications
Preferred Experience
Two or more (2+) years of supervisory experience

$63,000.00
