Industrial Maintenance Technician 1st Shift Available with potential 2nd Shift option
Uniroyal Engineered Products is a leading manufacturer of vinyl coated fabrics that are durable, stain resistant, cost-effective alternatives to leather, cloth and other synthetic fabric coverings.
The company manufactures automotive, specialty and Naugahyde brand products at its manufacturing plant in Stoughton, Wisconsin.
Job Summary
The Industrial Maintenance Technician is responsible for supporting our production operations through the application of reliable best practices to ensure our legacy equipment remains at optimal performance levels.
This position will require an individual that cares about doing the job right and is trustworthy and honest in their communications.
The selected candidate must be able to perform all duties promptly while ensuring compliance with all work practice and equipment safety procedures.
Position Duties and Responsibilities :
- Troubleshoot, identify and initiate corrective actions to equipment and machinery. Minimize total downtime by utilizing both permanent and temporary repairs in a safe manner.
- Perform preventive maintenance on machinery or equipment and make recommendations to improve the PM plans for machinery and buildings.
- Reads and understands electrical blueprints, ladder logic (PLC) and manuals to diagnose and correct electrical issues.
- Communicate safety issues immediately and inform supervisor of any inconsistencies.
- Ability to understand blueprints & electrical schematics and describe in detail completed repairs for documentation in the CMM
- Perform routine housekeeping activities in the department.
- Interact with all department Coaches and members on equipment performance and maintenance requirements.
- Actively participate in problem-solving and continuous improvement activities that improve safety and OEE; follow through on assigned tasks.
- Performs preventative maintenance, such as inspecting drives, motors, or belts, checking fluid levels, replacing filters, or doing other predictive maintenance actions
- Diagnoses mechanical problems and determines how to correct them, checking blueprints, repair manuals, or parts catalogs, as necessary
- Repairs machines, equipment, or building systems, using equipment such as precision measuring instruments or electrical or electronic testing devices
- Perform other duties as assigned i.e. participate in safety and gemba walks.
Qualifications and Experience :
- Demonstrated ability to get to root cause utilizing data and making recommendations to improve reliability.
- Experience maintaining hydraulic, pneumatic, mechanical and electrical systems
- Understand PLC operation, use PLC interface to diagnose PLC problems and affect proper corrective actions.
- Experience working with boilers, ovens, printing presses, and other general manufacturing machinery
- Must read and write the English language, perform mathematical calculations and read a tape measure
- Familiarity with the National Electrical Code
- Must always follow all safety rules and keep work area clean and safe from hazards
- A high quality of workmanship, both in repairs and line improvement.
- Must be self-motivated and be able to maintain up time with limited direction.
- Multi-task different duties and projects while being able to prioritize business needs.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, climb, and lift items up to 50 lbs. in performance of duties.
- Strong organizational skills along with strong oral and written communication skills
- Able to work at heights using ladders, lifts and platforms
- CMMS and computer skills (Microsoft Office Suite)
- Must provide own basic hand tools.
Education Requirements :
- 1+ years of experience in Industrial Maintenance Mechanic / Technician or related role in a manufacturing environment or equivalent combination of related experience and education
- High School diploma or equivalent, with a minimum of 1 years industrial maintenance experience or Associate Degree in Industrial Maintenance or a related field
Physical and Environmental Requirements :
- Ability to stand for long periods of time in a manufacturing environment.
- Normal factory environment with exposure to dust, noise, and temperature variations.
- Frequently lifting and carrying up to 50 pounds of material
- Frequently walking, stooping, balancing, reaching and climbing
- Work requires individuals with good vision and communication
- Often duties will require working from heights
Schedule
Monday Friday 1st shift with overtime as necessary
