As a Commercial Banker, you will be responsible for growing and retaining profitable relationships within the Middle Market Banking & Specialized Industries (MMBSI) specializing in Innovation Economy, Startup Banking.
The Startup Banking team is part of J.P. Morgan's Commercial Bank in its Middle Market Banking and Specialized Industries group.
In this role you will be the focal point of ongoing relationship management with the world’s most innovative companies. We work both independently and as part of a dynamic team to deliver the entire firm to our clients.
Job Responsibilities
- Demonstrate the ability to build a brand within your market that represents Startup Banking as the Leading Innovation Economy bank serving the best and most diverse clients
- Be knowledgeable and understanding to a founder’s journey and business life cycles.
- Oversee on-going client relationship management and responsiveness, as well as identifying opportunities to deepen the existing relationship.
Responsible for documenting meetings and interactions with call reports and maintaining CRM system updates.
- Deepen existing relationships by delivering the entire Firm, and lead internal strategic discussions across all our solutions including treasury, credit and payments
- Provide a first class client experience leveraging existing tools and industry insights.
- Oversee, escalate and resolve AML-identified compliance issues and any reputational or negative media issues in coordination with MMBSI management and the appropriate escalation forum.
Support KYC officer in completion of AML / KYC due diligence including approving DDF forms that reflect true relationship knowledge.
- Champion a culture of innovation and a customer centric mindset balanced with the ability to manage risk (credit, operational, and reputational) appropriately
- Be passionate about innovation, the early stage (pre series A) startup ecosystem and entrepreneurship, leading to a desire to stay up to date with industry trends to identify opportunities for innovation or strategic partnerships
Required Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- 5+ years of related experience
- Strong understanding of Commercial Banking products and services
- Proficiency in building and maintaining positive client relationships
- Strong communication, interpersonal and influencing skills, with the ability to establish credibility and strong partnerships
- Self-directed, proactive, and creative; uses sound judgment and navigates ambiguity to get things done
Preferred Qualifications, Capabilities and Skills
- Bachelor’s degree and formal credit training preferred
- Strong committed team player, looking to add to a national team of likeminded, passionate Innovation Economy bankers
