An open, fully funded position for a Physician Assistant is available at the Glenn Biggs Institute for Alzheimer's & Neurodegenerative Diseases at the University of Texas Health San Antonio (UTHSA) ().

We are looking for an exceptional candidate with expertise in clinical research to join a collaborative team of clinicians, epidemiologists, and statisticians conducting state-of-the-art research on dementia.

The position will support research activities for diverse studies at the Biggs Institute. Under the direction of a supervising physician, the candidate will work with Investigators and be responsible for providing high-quality, efficient, and team-based research assessments.

Activities can include but not limited to, blood draws, administering cognitive tests, health assessments, cardiovascular assessments, neurological and physical examinations, and the identification of actionable items to guide health recommendations.

These activities are supported by a cohesive team of research assistants and post-doctoral fellows.

The candidate must be self-motivated, independent in task completion, and comfortable accepting feedback and guidance from colleagues.

The ability to work well in a team and excellent communication skills are a must.

Education : A Bachelor's degree in a recognized field of science or learning that is directly related to the position and completion of an accredited Physician Assistant Program and Texas Licensure is required.

Experience : Working knowledge in clinical research protocols is preferred. Fluency in English is required. Fluency in Spanish is strongly preferred.

• Strong ethics and professionalism.

Job Duties

• Effectively communicates and supports the investigative team in the planning, evaluation, implementation, and documentation of scientific research.
• Actively screens, and enrolls potential study candidates.
• Obtains complete medical history from patients, draws blood, performs physical and neurological examinations, cardiac assessments, and organizes and presents the physical data, together with evaluation and recommendations, to permit the investigators to visualize the problem and determine appropriate diagnostic procedures and preliminary diagnoses.
• Counsels participants in study procedures and on various medical-related subjects and provides follow-up and health maintenance care to patients according to established protocols or specific instructions of the research study.
• Develops and maintains study source documents and CRFs, prepares study timelines, and reports adverse events to the PI when necessary.
• Ensures compliance with federal and local regulations and that regulatory processes are correct and align with the policies of UTHSCSA and various research organizations.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
