Position Summary :
The Senior Category Advisor is a position on Welch's Walmart & Sam's Club Team. This position will support the Category Development Team Lead in maintaining Best in Class Category Advisor status with Walmart and Sam's Club.
You will act as the category expert in the development and implementation of the Walmart modular process, as well as using Scintilla, Madrid, and Syndicated Data to craft meaningful insights and engage our customers with collaborative Category Development.
Where You'll Work :
This role will be based out of our Rogers, Arkansas office, with primary focus on Welch's top accounts, Walmart and Sam's Club. Immerse yourself in a dynamic workplace where innovation thrives, and collaboration is key.
Our hybrid schedule supports collaboration and connection with 3 in-office days, while Thursdays and Fridays remain flexible remote days to promote balance and well-being.
What You'll Do :
Category Strategy & Merchandising Leadership
- Manage the modular relay process including the drawing of modulars and custom merchandising strategies for Walmart using Blue Yonder JDA Space Planning.
- Collaborate with Walmart & Sam's Club Merchants to decode shopper behavior and channel performance trends, apply advanced analytics to uncover new growth opportunities, and deliver agile, actionable strategies that resonate at store / club level.
- Advance tools and automation, maintain key databases, and enhance capabilities to enable smarter, faster decisions.
Advanced Analytics & Insights
Collaborate with Walmart and Sam's Club Merchants to decode shopper behavior, channel trends, and identify growth opportunities through advanced analytics.Utilize Scintilla, Madrid, and Circana platforms to generate actionable insights and strategic recommendations.Deliver weekly scorecards covering category, item, promo, inventory, pricing, and seasonal performance.Strategic Advisory & Relationship Management
Advise Walmart and Sam's Club Merchants on Distribution, Shelving, Merchandising, and Pricing to enhance category performance.Build compelling, data-backed category narratives to support integrated strategy development.Provide insights and direction to Walmart Senior Leadership on consumer trends and market dynamics.Serve as a trusted advisor across planning cycles and cross-functional teams.Team Development & Capability Building
Mentor and train team members to foster strategic thinking and continuous learning.Advance tools, automation, and decision-making capabilities.Strengthen partnerships through thought leadership and business acumen.Who You Are :
Strategic thinker with 5+ years in category / shopper insights, CPG, and Walmart / Sam's Club experienceProficient in Scintilla, Madrid, Circana, JDA, Excel, PowerPoint, Power BI, and other advanced toolsDeep expertise in category, consumer, and shopper behavior (Mintel, etc.)Strong communicator with proven ability to influence across all levels, including senior leadershipAnalytical and detail-oriented, skilled at turning complex data into clear, actionable insightsExperienced in cross-functional collaboration, team leadership, and project managementAgile learner and creative problem-solver who thrives in dynamic environmentsThought leader with a pulse on emerging trends and market shiftsHighly organized, proactive, and adept at managing multiple prioritiesComfortable drilling into root causes and connecting the dots to drive growthCollaborative team player with a passion for innovation and continuous improvementWhat You'll Need :
Bachelor's degree is required. An equivalent combination of education and experience that proves the ability to perform the role may be considered.5+ years of previous experience in sales, category management, or as a category analyst, with significant responsibilities in the application of consumer insights, category management and shelf layout are required.Excellent capabilities in the use of Blue Yonder JDA Space Planning and syndicated data platforms.2+ years of JDA Software experience and demonstrated proficiency specific to Blue Yonder JDA Space Planning, database management, etc.Additional Skillsets :

This range reflects the minimum and maximum for the position across all US locations, is based on a full-time work schedule, and is Welch's good faith estimate as of the date of this posting. Within the range, individual pay is determined by work location and additional factors, including job-related skills, experience, and relevant education or training.
