Overview
Assesses, plans, implements, and coordinates care for the patient in the pre-operative, special procedure, and post anesthesia care units.
Responsible for the achievement of patient outcomes through implementation of critical pathways .
Key Responsibilities :
- Assessing patients' pre-operative health status and preparing them for surgery, including obtaining vital signs, starting IV lines, and administering medications as needed.
- Providing thorough patient education regarding pre-operative procedures, post-operative care instructions, and potential complications.
- Monitoring patients closely post-operatively for any signs of complications, including pain management, respiratory status, and surgical site assessment.
- Collaborating with surgeons, anesthesiologists, and other healthcare team members to ensure optimal patient outcomes.
- Maintaining accurate and detailed medical records of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes.
Qualifications & Requirements
- Associate's degree from an accredited two-year college or university, or diploma in nursing. BSN desired.
- Possession of valid state license as Registered Nurse in the state of Kansas.
- Current BCLS (Basic Cardiac Life Support) and ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) certification required or within 60 days of hire.
- Minimum of one-year experience in PACU, Emergency or ICU.
- One-year Pre-operative experience in surgery center or hospital setting preferred.
