TITLE : SEWING MACHINE OPERATOR SENIOR
DEPARTMENT : MATTRESS
REPORTS TO : PRODUCTION SUPERVISOR
Perform a variety of tasks to produce quality products, meeting or exceeding productivity goals, and operating machinery correctly and safely.
- Move cut goods to work area as necessary.
- Sew various cut goods according to specifications. Inspect to insure quality product.
- Notify cutter of defects in fabric and workmanship.
- Communicate work material shortages to supervisor.
- Notify production leader of machinery problems or breakdown.
- Consistently meet or exceed productivity goals.
- Perform assigned maintenance to keep equipment in good condition at all times.
- Assist co-workers as needed.
- Minimize waste and scrap through proper and careful handling of product.
- Maintain a clean and orderly work area.
- Participate in inventory as assigned.
- Support Quality Policy, Quality System, and follow established procedures. Propose changes to existing procedures through supervisor, understanding that changes cannot be implemented prior to formal approval in the Quality System.
- Follow safety rules to protect yourself, co-workers, equipment and facility. Report unsafe practices and conditions.
- Perform other duties as assigned by supervision.

The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.
This position requires lifting 25 pounds maximum with frequent lifting and / or carrying of objects weighing up to 10 pounds, therefore proper lifting technique is required.
Position may require seating and occasional standing, bending, climbing, crawling, crouching, kneeling, overhead lifting, pushing / pulling, reaching, squatting and twisting.

The performance of this position requires exposure to the manufacturing areas and requires the use of personal protective equipment such as safety glasses with side shields.
EDUCATION / EXPERIENCE :
- 3+ years industrial sewing experience required
