Position Summary : The successful candidate for Birch Behavioral school will ensure inclusive learning opportunities that enable students to access teaching material.
Responsible for planning, developing, and delivering appropriate individualized educational services, learning programs and instruction for special needs students while consulting with specialized personnel in the following areas : health, physical education, digital learning, social studies, science, ELA, library and media, music, writing, and mathematics.
Responsibilities of the Position :
- Creates a classroom environment that is conducive to learning and appropriate to the maturity and interests of the students and encourages mutual respect and effective learning.
- Utilizes Birch Behavioral Therapy’s curriculum goals and objectives to write comprehensive lesson plans designed to meet the learning needs of all students.
- Adhere to special education policies and procedures for developing, revising, reviewing, and assessing special education programs.
- Develop and implement necessary interventions and strategies to promote achievement of student objectives.
- Collaborate and consult with Birch Behavioral Therapy’s personnel regarding the implementation of the IEPs and special educational services.
- Modify and adapt conventional educational programs and curriculum to meet the requirements of special needs students.
- Assist parents with understanding and supporting educational objectives, learning expectations and behavioral standards.
- Ensure adherence to reasonable rules of classroom discipline and order to maintain a secure and effective learning environment.
- Manage student behavior through monitoring, supervising, and assessing behavioral patterns.
- Utilize appropriate corrective methods to modify behavior.
- Develop and implement Behavioral Intervention Plans (BIPs) where necessary.
- Instruct students on socially acceptable behaviors and personal development skills.
- Assist in the development and monitoring of State and Federal forms related to the Special Education students.
- Regular and predictable attendance and presence at respective center is an essential requirement of position.

Qualifications :
NH Certification in Elementary Education K-12. (Endorsement 1810 or 1811)
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree
- Requirements as set by the State of New Hampshire Certification Authorities and Board of School Committee regulations.
- State of NH Teacher Certification in Elementary Education (1810 or 1811) or other approved certification status may be considered.
o Intern Licensed applicants will be considered
- 1 year experience working as a lead special education teacher in a classroom setting.
- Valid driver’s license.
- Travels to school district buildings and professional meetings as required.
- Knowledge of elementary school curriculum and concepts.
- Knowledge of applicable federal and state laws regarding education and students.
