Step into a hands-on role where precision machining meets real-world problem solving. As a CNC Cylinder Machining and Service Specialist, you’ll service, repair, recondition, and assemble both customer and in-house cylinders, applying your craft to keep equipment performing at its best. You’ll operate and care for shop tools and machines, deliver high-quality work efficiently, and actively promote parts, labor, and service on every engagement. Along the way, you’ll help cultivate a positive culture grounded in integrity, collaboration, and accountability—always representing Certified Power as a professional Service Technician.

A Day in the Life

  • Transform raw stock into precision components—or update legacy parts—based on assignments from the Service Manager.
  • Diagnose issues, determine needed repairs, and conduct required inspections to ensure quality and safety.
  • Program, set up, and run CNC equipment; perform manual machining as needed to complete complex or custom work.
  • Document work clearly and accurately; maintain a clean, safe, and organized work area.
  • Proactively report shortages or malfunctions; assess work orders for materials on hand and notify the Service Manager when parts must be expedited.
  • Recommend additional repairs when appropriate and communicate professionally—always thank the customer.
  • Dress professionally; review technical bulletins, catalogs, and parts books to stay current with technical changes.
  • Participate in company meetings and customer functions; help keep the building and lot clean, orderly, and safe.
  • Support a respectful shop culture—do not second‑guess another technician’s work and do not assume liability or place blame on the company, manufacturers, or colleagues.
  • Give extra attention to repeat repairs to resolve root causes and prevent comebacks; control expenses while maximizing quality output.
  • Provide your own hand tools in a neat, professional chest; occasionally cross-train to cover other departments.

What You Bring

  • High school diploma or GED; a 2‑year fluid power degree or equivalent experience.
  • Ability to drive and obtain certification to operate a forklift; 18 years of age or older.
  • Technical Mastery

  • GD&T, Dovetail CNC, G‑Code, M‑Code
  • CNC Programming, CNC Tooling, Machine Setups for Production Runs
  • Manual Machining Skills; Design for Manufacturability (DFM)
  • Equipment Troubleshooting; Troubleshooting Skills
  • CNC Machine Repair and CNC Machine Installation
  • Machines & Technologies

  • CNC Mill (3–4 axis VMC)
  • CNC Swiss Lathe
  • CNC Lathe (5+ axis)
  • Hydraulic Shear / Shearing Machine
  • Cylindrical Grinder Machine
  • Tools & Equipment You’ll Use

  • Hand tools : allen wrenches, adjustable wrenches, box end wrenches, screwdrivers, hammers, sockets, ratchets.
  • Power / pneumatic : angle grinders, die grinders, air drills, air chisels, impact wrenches, torque multipliers, torches, band saw, electric drill, circular saw, cranes, forklift.
  • Diagnostics : various diagnostic equipment, test stands, and test fixtures.
  • Physical, Mental, and Work Environment

  • Stand for extended periods; lift up to 50 lbs.
  • Communicate clearly by phone and in person; move throughout the shop with appropriate motor skills.
  • Use chemicals with proper PPE, including adhesives, solvents, lubricants, epoxies, paints, and inks.
  • Additional mental requirements : compare, decide, problem solve, analyze, interpret.
  • WORKING ENVIRONMENT :

  • Average 40 hours per week, with potential evenings and weekends based on business needs.
  • Standard service hours : Monday–Friday, 7 : 00 a.m.–4 : 00 p.m.
  • Primarily indoor shop environment.
