Description
PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITY :
Coordinates purchasing activities with manufacturing and engineering departments to acquire inventory in a cost effective and timely manner.
Acquires and maintains technical understanding of products purchased. Performs cost analysis and volume planning for major commodities.
Obtains materials, components, equipment and services. Develops new supply sources where vendors and suppliers are inadequate.
Monitors the cost, schedule and scope of assigned subcontracts to assure best quality at best value. May recommend cost saving proposals including make-versus-buy analysis, alternative sourcing and vendor evaluation criteria.
INTERMEDIATE LEVEL :
General supervision of work with assignments that require a thorough and practical knowledge of the technical or business discipline.
May be assigned to small projects or to phases / portions of larger projects. Proficient with tools, systems, and procedures required by the work.
Understands and applies most principles, theories, concepts, and techniques utilized in the discipline. Developing experience in the applicable discipline in solution creation and increasing business knowledge.
Provides resolution to various problems of moderately complex scope. Exercises judgment in the use of defined procedures and practices.
Has mastered most of the basic job responsibilities. Contacts are typically with other members of the team, management, and / or outside the immediate organization.
Failure to achieve goals may require additional resources to correct. Bachelor’s degree with 2-4 year’s experience, or Masters with 0-1 year’s, or its equivalent.
