job_description.job_card.job_descriptionValid New Mexico Driver's License Manages the Sex-Offender database for the Sandoval County Sheriff's Office; registers convicted sex-offenders, which includes gathering and completing required documentation; photographing, to include scars, marks and tattoos; fingerprinting; obtaining DNA samples; obtaining court records; gathering police reports; and other required information. Prepares, schedules, and maintains sex offender registration files; works jointly with the Criminal Investigations Divisions to register and deter sex offenders from re-offending; ensures the Sheriff's Office is meeting all statutory mandated requirements of sex offender registration, monitoring and notifications; coordinates with the New Mexico Department of Public Safety to ensure the state administered sex-offender database contains current information for offenders residing in Sandoval County. Receives or distributes information from other agencies or the public according to established County and confidentiality policy and protocol; ensures the proper notification to schools, daycares, and other statutorily mandated organizations of sex-offenders residing in neighborhoods. Performs customer service duties including handling requests for information and copies of reports, providing information on filing legal orders, directing people to the appropriate court of jurisdiction and / or appropriate staff person of department; processes civil documents; sets up in-state inmate transports to and from court and / or from one jail to another; sets up lockouts and maintains and monitors civil documents; creates a variety of manuals and procedure guidelines including civil process manual; trains and cross trains staff; maintains office supply inventory and processes procurement requests. Attends training seminars, classes, and utilizes self-initiated methods to learn and implement "best practices" in the area of sex-offender management. Serves as a liaison with other law enforcement agencies, probation and parole officers, community groups, schools, and others that have an interest in sex-offender monitoring and compliance initiatives. Contributes to the organizational goal of obtaining and maintaining 100% sex-offender compliance with state and federal laws. Performs a variety of administrative assistant duties including maintaining reports, records and files; types a variety of correspondence, memos, forms, and reports; prepares case files; prepares statistical reports; sorts and distributes mail; performs data entry and updates into databases; schedules appointments; and receives, responds to, takes messages, and routes telephone calls to appropriate staff. Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Job Title : Sex Offender Registration And Notifications Act Administrative Assistant
Under general supervision, the position performs duties related to the Sex Offender Registration and Notifications Act (SORNA) including assisting in preparation of confidential documentation; performs a variety of administrative assistant duties including preparing and maintaining files, records maintenance, typing correspondence, memos, forms, and reports; data entry; and receiving, responding to, taking messages; and performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Education and Experience :
- High School Diploma / GED Certificate from an accredited institution and two (2) years of broad general office / clerical, records management, communications, data entry, and customer support experience; prefer experience in dealing with confidential information and records.
