Overview

While rising seniors will be given priority, we will consider recent graduates and rising juniors.

CoBank interns get real-life exposure to the daily duties of their group. They spend the summer as a valued member of their respective team, learning business skills and assisting with a variety of projects that have an impact on the bank’s operations.

An additional focus of the summer intern will be to complete a capstone project that will seek to add value to the team they are supporting.

Job Description

Farm Credit Banking Group’s ( FCBG ) core objective is strengthening CoBank’s relationships with Farm Credit System institutions ( System ).

These relationships include the wholesale lines of credit and participation volume with affiliated and nonaffiliated System institutions.

It also places intentional focus on providing incremental enhancements on CoBank’s intra-system commerce and balance of trade opportunities as well as promoting and leading intra-bank alignment in cooperation with other internal departments.

Further, its Mission Investments Division seeks out opportunities to increase rural capital formation 1) to grow businesses based in rural communities and / or in CoBank’s core industries, and 2) to provide affordable funding to essential community facilities in rural areas.

As a member of the FCBG team, our intern will be responsible for compiling portfolio data through the use of financial and investment metrics, and Farm Credit System data.

The intern will have the opportunity to assist with the System commerce strategy and Mission Investments using industry market data and portfolio statistics.

The intern will also by preparing market analysis. A capstone summer project will also be completed based on industry research, portfolio analysis, market snapshots, general economic outlooks, etc.

This intern position is located in our Denver, Colorado office.

Basic Qualifications

Currently enrolled in and working towards an undergraduate or graduate degree in Accounting and / or Finance, Economics, or a related discipline and in good academic standing.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Demonstrated skills in the use of Microsoft Office applications.
  • Basic understanding of balance sheets, income statements and cash flows.
  • Strong analytical skills and the ability to model in Excel.
  • Aptitude for learning other software applications.
  • Ability to perform research across multiple systems.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Strong written and verbal communications.
  • Experience in banking or financial services industry.

Compensation Information :

  • Undergraduate student - $21.00
  • Masters student - $25.00
