Senior Accountant
The Senior Accountant is a leader in the department and must do so being open to change and new ideas and modeling a positive and professional attitude.
The Senior Accountant is responsible for completing the monthly accounting close, balance sheet reconciliations, financial statement reporting as well as audit and tax requirements for a region of restaurants (or selected brands).
The Senior Accountant will supervise, train and assign tasks to the Staff Accountant(s), and will assist in the creation and documentation of accounting processes and procedures as well as the implementation of process improvements related to achieving a faster monthly close.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :
Responsible for the monthly close process for the assigned Region, including; assigning and monitoring tasks and financial analysis and review (including the balance sheet);
ensuring timely and accurate completion of the financial statements.
Be the go to person and assigned contact for the Regional Manager to address accounting questions and issues.
Take the lead for implementing new accounting processes (including automation initiatives) for the assigned Region.
Initiate monthly financial review meetings with the Regional Manager for restaurant results and any follow up required.
Coordinate with other Senior Accountants to identify areas where tasks can be standardized across restaurants within the Region, and assist with process documentation.
Responsible for the inventory process and sample recount process for the Region.
Maintain and monitor close status checklists for all restaurants within the region.
Coach and develop staff accountant(s) assigned to regional accounting team; assist with hiring and onboarding new staff accountants.
Help solve issues and prioritize workload challenges (e.g. new reporting requirements, additional restaurants etc).
Analyzes financial information in order to prepare, review and post GL journal entries, and is responsible for timely completion of balance sheet reconciliations.
Assists with cash management, and ensures timely review and reconciliation of bank accounts.
Coordinates with the Accounts Payable team to ensure a timely and accurate accounts payable process for the assigned restaurants.
Trains restaurant Managers and Chefs on proper accounting procedures.

Education and / or Experience
Requires a bachelor's degree in Accounting or Finance from a four-year college or university, with at least 5-7 years of accounting experience and over 2-3 years of supervisory experience.
Other Qualifications
Accounting experience and knowledge (CPA or equivalent experience and strong knowledge of key accounting fundamentals).
People management skills i..e. supervision and coaching of others (including direct reports).
Excellent Communication skills - proactively raising issues and potential solutions.
Business partnering - ability to build relationships with senior leadership in Operations (i.e. Regional Managers).
Performing under pressure - handling high work volume / large sales base and delivering on time.
Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail
Advanced knowledge of Google Suite and Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) - strong excel and modeling skills are critical in this role
Effectively manage time and prioritize workload
A positive results orientated attitude with ability to embrace and manage change is very important in this role.
