Desert Regional Medical Center is a 385-bed acute-care hospital classified as a stroke receiving center and level 2 trauma facility with an innovative, patient centered and evidence-based Rehabilitation Services Department.
Our compassionate team provides a wide range of inpatient and outpatient services, including acute care rehabilitation, joint replacement & spinal surgery, neurosurgery, ICU, Telemetry, step-down care, skilled nursing, as well as outpatient therapy, hand and lymphedema clinics.
GENERAL DUTIES :
The Vocational Nurse-Licensed performs under the direction of the Registered Nurse in providing for the care of patients to whom he / she is directly assigned.
A basic understanding of medical and surgical problems is necessary, in addition to knowledge of appropriate nursing interventions related to the patients the care for.

DEPARTMENT SPECIFIC DUTIES :
- Participates in chart audit duties as assigned
- Proficient in EMR and charge entry
- Understands the range of treatment needed as appropriate to the ages of patients served
- Works in conjunction with and under the supervision of an RN in performing assigned nursing tasks.
- Administers medications within the scope of practice and nursing policy.
- Assists physicians with examinations and treatments.
- Demonstrates competency in treatment and evaluation of patients.
- Demonstrates knowledge of growth and development
- Provides education to patients and families based on their identified needs and physician order.
- Re-enforces importance of medication compliance.
- Remove any unsafe condition and report and follow up as necessary to the appropriate personnel
- Utilizes universal precautions.
- Assures patients are adequately oriented to the area.
- Monitors unit activities and encourages staff participation in safety issues.
- Uses self as a role model to promote health communication and safe work practices.
- Reports potential crisis situations to the Nurse Manager.
- Monitors patients for changes in condition or status and intervenes appropriately in a timely fashion.
- Participates in orientation of all new staff as assigned.
- Participates in Performance Improvement Plan of Unit.
- Demonstrates guest relations in communication, cooperation and in giving assistance to patients, physicians, co-workers and visitors in a prompt and courteous manner.
- Acts as the patients advocate and assures that patient rights are upheld.
- Communicates professionally with coworkers and physicians.
- Asks for assistance and guidance as needed.
- Implements appropriate interventions based on patient need and unit guidelines.
- Follows the chain of command in problem resolution.
- Performs general nursing procedures.
- Registers daily patients charges treated in the cancer center.
- Ensures documentation in electronic medical record is accurate.
- Enters corrections or additions in a timely fashion.
POSITION QUALIFICATIONS :
Required :
- Current license as an LVN, issued by the State of California
- Current American Heart Association BLS certification (maintain current at all times)
- Minimum one (1) year LVN nursing experience.
Preferred :
One year oncology care experience preferred. Experience in ambulatory care setting desirable
Pay range : 21.66 - $29.11 hourly
Individual wages are determined based upon a number of factors including, but not limited to, an individual’s qualifications and experience
