Job Details :
The Department of Computer Science in Mercer University’s College of Liberal Arts and Sciences is accepting applications for a tenure track faculty position at the rank of Assistant Professor.
The appointment will be effective August 1, 2024.
Responsibilities :
Applicants should have a strong commitment to undergraduate education. Teaching responsibilities include undergraduate courses in computer science, data science, information technology, and cybersecurity.
Other duties include directing undergraduate research projects and serving as faculty advisor for students. Maintaining an active research program that complements the department’s current areas of interest is also expected.
Qualifications :
Applicants should hold a Ph.D. in computer science or a closely related field from an accredited college / university. ABD candidates will be considered at the rank of Instructor until completion of the Ph.
D., but the Ph.D. must be completed no later than December 31, 2024. Applicants must have a demonstrated academic and / or professional background in core computer science topics.
Preference will be given to applicants that have demonstrated scholarly ability in the area of data science, secure software development, artificial intelligence, or app development.

The Computer Science Department, situated in the College of Liberal Arts and Sciences, offers degrees in cybersecurity, computer science, computational science, and information science and technology.
The BS degree program in computer science is accredited by ABET. The Department also offers coursework in Computer Engineering major, Master’s programs in Cybersecurity and Software Systems that are offered through Mercer’s School of Engineering and coursework for Business majors in Mercer’s School of Business.
