Summary of the Forklift Mechanic

The Forklift Mechanic is responsible for performing periodic maintenance, repair, replacement and troubleshooting on various models of material handling and farm equipment.

Primary Responsibilities - Forklift Mechanic :

• Inspect, service, and repair forklifts and farm equipment
• Disassemble, overhaul, repair and reassemble engine, transmission, differential, clutch, brake, electrical system, fuel system, and any other part related to material handling or farm equipment
• Perform scheduled equipment service ranging from minor to major service
• Use all tools of the trade, including precision instruments, welding equipment, shop machines, overhead hoists and power tools in adjusting and repairs
• Complete accurately all required internal and customer driven paperwork, including work orders, safety inspections, timesheets
• Ensure company equipment and tools comply with safety and cleanliness standards
• Demonstrate exceptional communication and customer service skills
• Own and maintain up to date tools of the trade
• Keeps work and supply areas clean and orderly, and follows all safety rules and procedures
• Required to work overtime if needed
• Perform other work-related duties as directed or assigned

Qualifications - Forklift Mechanic :

Must have mechanical experience in one or more areas : automotive, diesel and or forklift

• One-year certificate or Associates degree from a community college or technical school; Five plus year's heavy equipment experience or equivalent education and experience
• Strong verbal, written, and interpersonal skills
• Ability to understand and carry out verbal and written instruction
• Valid California driver’s license / good driving record

Physical Requirements :

• Ability to lift up to 50 lbs.
• Ability to stand for prolonged period of time
• Ability to bend, squat, stand and reach as necessary
