Summary of Position (Job Purpose) - Major purpose and functions of the position.

The position is responsible for The Print Manager plays a crucial role in the process of printing signs, banners, circulars, etc.

for Family Dollar. This role is responsible for reviewing and approving final print drafts, identifying, negotiating, and following up with assigned vendor on all print jobs, and ensuring the most suitable vendor is selected for each print job based on time, quality and cost demands.

This role is responsible for managing the print marketing specialists. The Print Manager acts as the liaison between Family Dollar and its print vendor partners to ensure the company’s print needs are met.

Principal Duties and Responsibilities - Primary responsibilities listed in order of importance

Provide consultant services to internal clients in completion of their print work orders; evaluates work orders and needs, i.

e. timeframes, cost requirements, etc. to identify most appropriate print method (in-house or external vendor); plan and direct production workflow and schedules according to budgets, workloads and deadlines.

  • Act as liaison between print vendors and internal clients on all work orders; negotiate and contract for favorable rates;
  • communicate and evaluate compliance to company print requirements and requests to include quality standards and time frames;

follow up to ensure standards are met. Evaluate print partners performance and productivity annually.

Partner with Merchandising Department on in-store signage for each category as required; proof all work orders ensure signage is consistent with Circulars, Pass outs, or digital ads;

work with client to resolve errors and inconsistencies; give final approval before sending to print.

  • Create Monthly Marketing Kits to incorporate all required signage to support promotional events
  • Research, identify and approve new print vendors as needed; ensure new vendors understand and can meet company requirements for quality, timeframes and costs.
  • Manage print budget for Marketing print jobs.
  • Creates and manages industrial signage kits including store format kits, new and reno store kits.
  • Promote ongoing training and technology development for print marketing Specialists to stay up to speed with print industry standards.
  • Maintain and optimize current technical knowledge of print processes, with emphasis on digital formats and cross platform technology solutions.
  • Work with merchandising vendors for in store promotions for chain wide and targeted marketing promotions. Monitoring integrity of graphics, overall in store messaging and helping to develop distribution process.
  • Partner with Purchasing on sourcing print commodity items across multiple internal organization units, and identifying current items to be maintained by Purchasing for inventory and reordering.
  • Mentor Print marketing Specialists to print industry best practices and provide learning opportunities for career development.

marketing initiatives

Minimum Requirements / Qualifications - Summary of knowledge, experience and education required.

  • Education : BA or BS and / or relevant work experience
  • Experience : Eight to ten years of experience in the printing field in either a printing company or print department; experience in managing a budget.
  • Job Related Skills : Excellent verbal and written communication skills; proven ability to work cross functionally; ability to work within and meet deadlines;

proven negotiating skills; ability to understand the balance between cost, quality and deadlines. Must also be skilled in visual merchandising and store development strategies and concepts.

  • Computer Skills : Intermediate use of Microsoft Excel, Word, and Outlook; knowledge of the different styles of printing and print techniques.
