SUMMARY :
The Electrical and Instrumentation Maintenance Engineer reports directly to the Engineering and Technology Manager and is a key member of the Colonial Heights Maintenance Excellence Leadership Team.
This position is responsible for improving all aspects of managing electrical and instrument machine health for the site.
MAJOR AREAS OF RESPONSIBILITY include the following (Other duties may be assigned) :
- Develop Electrical & Instrumentation (E&I) guidelines, inspection / test / work procedures, standards, documentation methods, and polices to achieve world-class level
- Familiar with all instrumentation devices such as transmitters, controllers, transducers, signal conditioners, valves, limit and proximity switches
- Interact well with Planners, Operators, Shift Leaders and Production Engineers to solve day-to-day E&I maintenance and minor mechanical issues.
- Provide short-term and long-term improvements in process control using Programmable Logic Control (PLC), HMI Programming, AC / DC Inverter Drives, Motor Controls, Experion DCS and electrical power distribution to increase operating efficiencies / I software needs to Experience in the use of SAP, MS Project, other MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Lead capital and maintenance productivity efforts.
- Solves complex Electrical and Instrumentation problems through capital project planning, design, redesign, application, and reliability centered maintenance techniques.
- Knowledgeable in E / I loop checks, calibrations and interlock testing
- Provide troubleshooting flow charts and standard work to improve troubleshooting technique and troubleshooting time.
- Lead, troubleshoot, support, plan, coordinate, and problem-solve E&I related issues
- Uses various test and inspection instruments to assess condition and repair requirements of equipment including NDT and PdM technologies.
- Uses advanced statistical tools to track and analyze trend data, performs calculations, communicate performance, predict remaining life and failure expectancy and to improve MTBF of equipment.
- Works in team environment to investigate incidents relative to equipment failure, root cause analysis, equipment design, and to develop and follow-up on recommendations.
- Works with Capital Engineering, procurement, maintenance, stores, suppliers and purchasing on spare parts and equipment opportunities.
- Tracks maintenance related plant downtime and OEE. Prepares monthly reports.
- Performs / coordinates inspections / tests, calculations, evaluations, repair recommendations, contractor and repair work, etc.

- Supports MOC program for changes required to plant databases.
- Serve as the secondary point of contact for E&I related issues during normal working hours and during off hours; mentor hourly electricians and site FLS as primary POCs
QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS :

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS :
- Enrolled in or Completed Associate’s Degree in Electrical Engineering or Equivalent
- years of experience in a technical or operational assignment experience in Controls, Instrumentation, Computer Programming, Hardware Design, Manufacturing, Capital Project Design, Reliability Engineering, Maintenance, or Production Engineering.
- Must have a strong proficiency in computer / digital technology and knowledge of various software programs including Microsoft Excel, Word, Teams, ERP / SAP Systems, Drawing Management software, Electrical Design Software, and Root Cause Analysis software.
ADDITIONAL QUALIFICATIONS :
- Degree in Electrical Engineering or Engineering Technology Preferred
- Knowledge of Maintenance module for SAP or equivalent ERP System.
- Handle multiple tasks simultaneously and autonomously.
- Work efficiently and effectively in a high-stress, high pressure environment.
