Job Title : Registered Nurse - Oncology Unit
Location : Ithaca, NY
Department : Oncology Unit
Shift : Day Shift (5 days, 8 hours each)
Duration : 13 Weeks
Job Description :
As a Registered Nurse in the Oncology Unit will provide specialized care to patients with cancer and hematologic disorders.
Your role will involve comprehensive patient assessment, administration of chemotherapy, and support for patients and their families throughout the treatment process.
Responsibilities :
- Conduct thorough assessments of patients’ physical and emotional health, including pain management and side effect management.
- Administer chemotherapy and other oncology treatments according to established protocols.
- Monitor patients for adverse reactions and complications, providing timely interventions as necessary.
- Collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to develop and implement individualized care plans.
- Educate patients and families about treatment options, side effects, and self-care strategies.
- Maintain accurate and up-to-date patient records, documenting assessments, interventions, and responses to treatment.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and adhere to safety and infection control protocols.
Qualifications : Education :
Education :
Bachelor’s degree in Nursing (BSN) preferred; Associate's degree in Nursing (ADN) acceptable.
Licensure :
Valid New York State Registered Nurse License.
Experience :
Previous experience in oncology nursing is preferred.
Certifications :
Basic Life Support (BLS) certification; Oncology Certified Nurse (OCN) certification is a plus.
