The Adult Education Bridge and Transition Advisor reports to the Dean for Adult Education and is responsible for providing wrap-around student services to adult education students looking to enroll in bridge, ICAPS, or IET classes.

This position is responsible for student retention, recruitment, and assisting adult education students in the transition to employment, post- secondary education, or career training.

Responsibilities

Provide academic advising services to adult education students and career planning with particular focus on bridge and ICAPS.

Collect and disseminate information regarding transition and bridge programs and opportunities post-secondary education and training.

Recruit and determine eligibility of participants for specific transition and bridge programs.

Participate in community based and internal recruitment events to drive enrollment of adult education programs.

Provide wrap-around support to adult education students and refer them to appropriate internal and external partners to assist in addressing the student's needs and barriers.

Coordinate student tours to the various Waubonsee Community College campuses and highlight career specific programs aimed at increasing student transition to the college.

Schedule, organize, and conduct classroom presentations on transition opportunities and programs.

Provide student referrals to appropriate departments within the college and to community resources.

Remain current on specific discipline clusters for the Counseling and Advising Department, college catalogs and related materials.

Conduct new student information sessions and assist in placement testing.

Remain current on adult education programs, issues, and regulations.

Remain current on community resources for career transition.

Maintain records as required by the college and the grant funding agency.

Maintain tracking system for student transition.

Attend workshops and meetings as directed by the Dean for Adult and Workforce Education.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree required.

Two years' experience working in education and / or counseling setting and / or with a social service agency required.

At least one year of successful experience working with adults in a position involving public contact in a social service or educational setting.

Flexible and able to manage diverse information and student populations.

Ability to work independently and as part of a team.

Excellent communication and human relations skills.

Bilingual in English and Spanish preferred.

Special Instructions : This is not a full-remote position and evening hours (6pm - 9pm) may be required to provide services to students.

Reliable transportation to travel to satellite campuses also required.
