Medical Technician (ObGyn, Family and Internal Medicine)- full or part time - multiple locations

Under the direction of the RN Supervisor or Site Manager, the Medical Tech supports the patient by actively participating in the interdisciplinary care team and assists providers in the delivery of primary care services.

This is a full-time, or part-time, benefit-eligible position typically working Monday through Friday 8am - 5pm, an occasional evening until 7 / 8p, and an occasional Saturday 9 : 00a-12p.

Pay for this position starts at $17 / hour but could be more based on years of experience

Requirements :

Highschool Diploma (or GED) and completion of an entry level medical training program including, but not limited to : medical assisting and nursing assisting, medical technician.

Experience working in an ambulatory care setting preferred.

Responsibilities :

Complete chart preparation for each patient including review of population health management system (i.e. Care Sentry), review incomplete orders and referrals, and gather other information that may be required.

Record information in the electronic health record (EHR).

• Manage clinic flow
• Greet patients, determine needs, and direct patients to the examining room.
• Follow rooming procedure including asking about recent ER / Hospital visits, taking vital signs, and completing screening tests as identified in the chart preparation.
• Record visit information in the EHR.
• Obtain lab specimens, performs tests, and document results.
• Prepare specimens for transportation, complete necessary forms as indicated, and arrange for transportation.
• Carry out routine testing procedures, i.e., hearing and vision screening.
• File patient information and assist with medical records responsibilities.
• Manage telephone inquiries appropriately and carry out patient call backs as assigned.
• Assist nurses and providers with incoming patient healthcare information.
• Stay informed of all pertinent federal, state and Cherry Health regulations, laws, and policies as they presently exist and as they change or are modified, and ensure that services provided align with these.
• Interact with co-workers, staff of other affiliates, patients, members and visitors in a positive and professional manner and communicate effectively and respectfully.
• Performs all other duties as assigned.
