ABOUT THIS ROLE

This opportunity is for a Senior Software Development Manager overseeing Audible’s Tools, Infrastructure, and Operations teams.

This role is pivotal in enhancing our engineering and organizational efficiency through effective management of development and test tools, automation frameworks, technology infrastructure, IT support, audio-video systems, and system development engineering.

It's our responsibility to push Audible into new places; wherever our customers are listening. Achieving this vision means expanding and strengthening Continuous Delivery across surfaces, enhancing operational capabilities to support business growth, ensuring timely and effective resolution of issues, fostering a highly stable and secure environment, as well as driving high productivity and strong quality culture.

This role requires a strong shift-left, customer-focused data-driven mindset and experience enabling teams to drive efficiency and improve quality leveraging internal and external technologies.

Audible Quality Assurance and Tech Operations organization helps to promote organization quality ownership and TechOps culture thru well-defined measurable processes, comprehensive quality assessments, identification of risk and flawless delivery of products across Audible’s technology infrastructure, always keeping the customer needs in mind.

As a Senior Software Development Manager, you will...

  • Lead, mentor and manage multiple teams focused on tools, infrastructure and technical operations
  • Architect and develop innovative technical designs aligned with engineering efficiency goals as well as reporting and monitoring solutions to help drive operational excellence across the organization
  • Define, manage, and improve software and product development processes, collaborating closely with high-performance engineers
  • Lead day-to-day activities of the engineering team, ensuring project plans and commitments are met
  • Coach and mentor high-performing architects and engineers, fostering their growth, knowledge, and ability to deliver, while promoting a high-growth and inclusive culture
  • Drive operational excellence for your team, creating and monitoring metrics and alarms for continuous process improvement
  • Collaborate with senior leaders and cross-functional teams to develop engineering efficiency roadmap and foster innovation
  • Monitor industry trends and advancements to ensure the organization remains at the forefront of technology

BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelors or advanced degree in Computer Science or closely related field
  • Extensive experience (10+ years) in software development and engineering management, preferably in a fast-paced, high-growth environment

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with the ability to present complex technical information in a clear and concise manner to a variety of audiences
  • Experienced with building and architecting on AWS, leveraging latest technologies such as GenAI
  • Experience being a manager of managers, growing managers to scale with the needs of the organization and working through others to accomplish the day-to-day work of the organization
  • Able to thrive in an ambiguous environment
  • Proven track record of leading and managing high-performing teams responsible for tools, infrastructure, and technical operations
  • Proficiency in implementing and optimizing Continuous Delivery practices, with a strong understanding of DevOps principles and cloud-based technologies
  • Strong understanding of developer tools, automation frameworks, technology infrastructure and IT support systems
  • Exceptional problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to leverage data-driven insights to drive decision-making
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to collaborate effectively with cross-functional partners at all levels
  • A customer-centric mindset and a passion for enabling teams to achieve their goals and deliver high-quality products
