Job Overview

The University of Cincinnati’s College of Engineering and Applied Science seeks a full-time Research Associate for the Department of Aerospace Engineering and Engineering Mechanics.

The role involves managing research projects and contributing to studies in Explainable AI and Optimal Control.

Essential Functions

  • Coordinate laboratory projects and research studies in Explainable AI and Optimal Control.
  • Manage the full project lifecycle of grant-funded research, ensuring milestones and deliverables are met.
  • Mentor and manage graduate research students.
  • Oversee laboratory operations and research equipment.
  • Lead and support grant proposal writing and submission.
  • Contribute independently to projects based on expertise and experience.
  • Utilize research knowledge to solve complex problems and independently manage full project cycles.
  • Collaborate effectively as part of a research team.
  • Analyze research data, design data search procedures, and establish research standards and controls.
  • Deliver significant outcomes for assigned projects and studies as a seasoned researcher.

Required Education

Master's degree in Aerospace Engineering or a related field.

Required Experience

  • In-depth knowledge of specialized field, process or discipline.
  • May require experience with specialized software programs.

Additional Qualifications Considered

  • At least two years of experience in academic and experimental research.
  • Minimum of two years in leadership and management roles.
  • Strong knowledge of Fuzzy Logic, Explainable AI principles, Machine Learning, Reinforcement Learning, and Optimal Control.
  • Proficiency in Python, MATLAB, and Isaac Sim.
