The Role
As an Architectural Designer, your primary role will be working on the preliminary design for commercial, hospitality, mixed use and multi-family projects.
This position requires a strong eye for design, creative thinking, understanding of the technical nature of buildings and the ability to envision three dimensional spaces.
Artistic ability and creativity is a must for this role. This position also has heavy client interaction so good communication skills are critical.
In this seat, you will work with the design team and principals to create preliminary design documents for Ownership review and approval.
A Day in the Life
- Work collaboratively with the design department to create beautiful yet practical buildings and projects.
- Utilize hand drawings, sketches or computer software to create the project deliverables. KKA uses Revit for modeling and Lumion for renderings.
- Utilize company approved project checklists to back check document deliverables.
- Conduct quality assurance and quality control on assigned projects.
- Ensure each project complies with the state and local building codes.
- You must be a master communicator (with Ownership, consultants, and the Municipality we are working in)
- Communicate and work with the internal staff to ensure successful project delivery.
- Be prepared for a fast-paced week.
- Prepare documents and presentations for City entitlements.
Qualifications
- Bachelors or Master’s in architecture from an accredited college / university
- 3+ years of related architectural experience with a strong focus on the design side of the profession.
- Strong organizational, technical and project management skills
- Ability to multi-task while maintaining a high level of quality.
- A deadline driven individual.
- Ability to take direction and also collaborate with a team.
- Able to communicate effectively both verbally and graphically with clients and consultants.
- While this position is mainly design, you must have an understanding of how buildings are constructed.
- Must have a fluent understanding of Autodesk Revit and the Microsoft suite of programs.
- Ability to generate visually appealing architectural graphics
