Position Summary : Under the direction of the Pool Manager, the lifeguard is required to supervise the members and guests of the Club, keeping them safe in and around the club's facilities.
The successful candidate will execute all water safety policies and procedures, work to keep the pool area clean, and conduct themselves professionally at all times.
Length of Service : This is a year-round position with part-time and full-time hours available.
Essential Duties and Responsibilities :
- Build relationships with the membership by providing exceptional customer service.
- Continuously monitor the pool and supervise swimmers at all times to ensure their safety.
- React quickly and effectively to emergencies, including water rescues, injuries, and medical situations.
- Respectfully enforce Club policies regarding member attire and behavior when at the pool.
- Inspect all pool safety equipment and report any needed repairs.
- Administer first aid, CPR, and other emergency procedures as required.
- Ensure the pool area is clean and free of hazards.
- Conduct regular inspections of the facility, including pool equipment, safety equipment, and first aid kits.
- Participate in ongoing training sessions and drills to stay current with lifeguard techniques and emergency procedures.
- Perform required pool pre-opening and post-closing duties.
- Assists with the set up and execution of delegated tasks during Swim meets and department events.
- Performs other reasonable tasks assigned by the Pool Manager.
Essential Qualifications :
- Excellent communication and interpersonal abilities.
- Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively.
- Proficiency in using pool maintenance equipment and technology.
- Strong problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Must have a Lifeguard and CPR certification.
- Pool Operators License is highly preferred.
- High school diploma or equivalent required.
- Must be at least 15 years of age.
Working Conditions :
- Work is performed both indoors and outdoors in a pool environment.
- Be in the sun for long periods of time.
- Involves working evenings, weekends, and holidays.
- Physical ability to perform pool maintenance tasks and respond to emergencies.
- Can lift and carry 50 pounds.
