This role is based in Cleveland, Ohio, and is a hybrid work arrangement - individuals may be required to work some days in the Federal Reserve Bank of Cleveland while working the other days from home.
Organizational Expectations
As a UX designer senior, you will be responsible for the analysis, design, creation and maintaining of UX design and research standards for customers in the Federal Reserve System.
You will act as an advocate for the user through project coordination, coaching, and mentoring. You will provide support and guidance across multiple development teams including analyzing data and collecting deliverables to support successful implementation of UX best practices all while keeping abreast of current UX design and research practices.
General Responsibilities
- Create user flows, style guides, low- and high-fidelity prototypes, and design artifacts (wireframes, etc.) that work on various browsers and mobile platforms.
- Produce designs that are compliant with current web accessibility guidelines.
- Participate in all phases of the product lifecycle, including product ideation, user persona definition, requirement elicitation, cross-discipline UX design sessions, usability testing, and data analytics.
- Apply fundamental design principles to products so they effectively use typography, color, composition, and space to present information.
- Conceptualize and articulate strong user-centered interactions while balancing the needs of the business and capabilities of technology.
- Remain current with new technologies, frameworks, and trends; advise the enterprise; and pursue the latest opportunities that will improve the UX.
- Exhibit product ownership, present work and rationale to stakeholders, and accountable to timelines and project needs.
- Assist on analysis initiatives, which may include executing surveys, compiling and analyzing research results, and drafting implementation plans.
- Lead and provide guidance to other UX designers.
- Identify, plan, and execute qualitative and quantitative research methods to understand our customers and their needs, identify design improvements, and discover new opportunities.
- Conduct workshops, field studies, interviews, surveys, usability tests, A / B testing, card-sorting, design reviews, and competitive analysis as appropriate.
- Create personas, scenarios, storyboards, conceptual models, journey and experience maps, service blueprints, and other artifacts to help drive design vision and strategy.
- Prepare and deliver concise, creative, and impactful research reports to members of project teams and other stakeholders at all levels within the organization.
- Perform other duties as assigned or requested.
- Adhere to the Bank's attendance policies through regular and prompt attendance.
Education and Experience
- Two years of college and 7 years of related work experience.
- Bachelor's degree and a minimum of 5 years of related work experience.
- Master's degree and 3 years of related work experience.
Knowledge and Skills
- Fundamental design principles that affect typography, color use, composition, use of space, and presentation of information.
- Fluent in HTML and CSS, including responsive design.
- Web accessibility guidelines.
- eCommerce web, mobile web, and UX design.
- Implementing designs and creating test-ready prototypes in an agile development environment.
- Extensive experience with some or all of the following : Photoshop, Illustrator, SASS, Sketch, Foundation / Bootstrap, GIT, Javascript (jQuery, AngularJS).
- Prototyping tools (for example, Axure, Balsamiq, invisionapp).
Physical Demands and General Working Conditions
Traditional office environment : Employees typically sit most of the day, work with a computer and may answer / respond to phone calls.
Physical movement consists of walking for meetings, breaks, etc. Ability to lift items weighing approximately 20 pounds on a limited basis is required.
Employees may be required to travel by car / air.
