Body Shop Technician I
The company is seeking a Body Shop Technician to add to their team. This person will play a vital role on the company's team by repairing and restoring vehicles that have been damaged due to accidents, collisions, or other incidents.
Key Responsibilities :
Vehicle Inspection : Conduct thorough inspections of damaged vehicles to assess the extent of damage and create an accurate repair plan.
Repair and Restoration :
Performs a wide range of repair tasks, including but not limited to :
- Straightening and aligning vehicle frames and body panels.
- Welding and metalworking to repair or replace damaged components.
- Repairing or replacing damaged glass, plastic, and trim.
- Sanding, priming, and painting damaged areas to match the vehicle's original finish.
- Repairing and refinishing damaged interiors.
Use of Tools and Equipment :
Utilize various hand tools, power tools, welding equipment, and computerized diagnostic systems to perform repairs.
Safety Compliance :
Follow safety protocols and use personal protective equipment (PPE) to ensure a safe working environment for yourself and colleagues.
Quality Control :
- Ensures that all repairs meet industry standards for safety, quality, and aesthetics.
- Conduct post-repair inspections to verify the quality of work.
Documentation :
- Maintains accurate records of repairs, including labor hours, materials used, and parts replaced.
- Creates estimates and invoices for customers and insurance companies.
Customer Service :
- Interact with customers, providing explanations of repair processes, cost estimates, and completion timelines.
- Addresses customer concerns and maintain a high level of customer satisfaction.
Continuous Learning :
Stays updated on the latest automotive repair techniques, materials, and technologies through training and professional development.
Qualifications :
- High school diploma or equivalent; completion of a vocational or technical program in automotive repair is preferred.
- 2-4+ years’ experience as a Body Shop Technician or related automotive repair experience with domestic vehicles.
- STRONG KNOWLEDGE / SKILLS IN PAINT
- Proficiency in using automotive repair tools and equipment.
- Strong attention to detail and problem-solving skills.
- Knowledge of safety procedures and protocols in an automotive repair environment.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Excellent communication and customer service skills.
- Physical stamina and strength to perform manual labor and lift heavy objects when required.
- Certifications from a recognized automotive repair organization (e.g., I-CAR) is a plus .
Working Conditions :
Body Shop Technicians typically work in automotive repair shops, which may be noisy and require standing for extended periods.
The job may involve exposure to dust, chemicals, and fumes. They may also need to work irregular hours, including evenings and weekends, to meet customer demands.
