We are looking for a Full-Time Instrumentation Service Technician in our Durham, NC lab.

A DAY IN THE LIFE

Enthalpy Analytical, is part of the larger organization, Montrose Environmental Group, is comprised of over 9 laboratories servicing air, water, soil, and toxicology testing.

Regulations drive the need for our services, but our unique capabilities allow us to add value to clients beyond environmental compliance.

  • Repair / service and maintenance (both electrical and mechanical) of laboratory instruments
  • Diagnose malfunctions, errors, and technical problems of equipment and determine proper solutions
  • Disassemble and reassemble instrumentation to repair and replace worn or malfunctioning component and consumables
  • Assist with implementation of existing and new technologies and techniques within the laboratory
  • Update and maintain instruments per manufacturers specs and keep records as required
  • Provide direction and technical decision making for management involving capital asset purchases
  • Involvement with the purchasing / installation / validation of equipment and instrumentation.
  • Work with department Group Leaders to ensure all preventative maintenance is performed at the appropriate times
  • Oversee and assist with the modification of existing systems in the laboratories to make them more efficient and / or effective, along with the development and implementation of new processes and procedures
  • Other duties as assigned by the Operations Manager or his designee(s)
  • Comply with Enthalpy's Quality Assurance Program and other policies
  • Comply with Enthalpy's Health and Safety Plan
  • Other duties as assigned

YOUR EXPERTISE & SKILLS

To perform this job successfully, individuals must be able to perform each duty and responsibility satisfactorily. The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and / or ability required.

  • An Associate's Degree in Engineering, Chemistry, Biology, or a certified trade school degree related to Electronics, Electrical Systems, Automotive Systems Technology, or Manufacturing from an accredited university, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience are preferred
  • 2+ years of experience working on or with : GC, GC-MS, auto samplers, HPLC, LC, and evacuation pumps or a certified electrician is preferred
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Solid organization and time management skills
  • Effective verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to work independently, managing multiple responsibilities (i.e. self-starter, self-motivated)
