Responsibilities : Assesses patient condition and needs, taking into consideration growth and developmental level of the patient and age related factors such as physiological, sensory, tactile, auditory, visual, body image perception and emotional changes.

Utilizes a thorough systematic process and appropriate skills in documenting patients' history and pertinent clinical information, as evidenced by documentation in patients' medical record.

Demonstrates good judgment and acceptable nursing practice as based upon patient / family needs identified during patient visit.

Needs include physical, spiritual, psychosocial and educational.Implements patient care by continuously practicing within the guidelines of clinic policies and procedures as evidenced by accuracy in written documentation.

Evaluates patient care outcomes to see results of progress and collaborates with team members in evaluating and recommending other courses of action.

Utilizes opportunity for health teaching of patient / significant other by utilizing the appropriate teaching methods, encouraging use of available resources, through appropriate teaching methods related to age specific factors.

Establishes priorities, assesses workload and determines order of importance on a consistent basis, as demonstrated by minimal guidance required.

Collaborates with the physician and assists with writing orders, scheduling tests, assisting with procedures.Follows up on physician's reports and / or recommendations with patient and / or family.

Administers or assists the physician with special treatments and procedures as required.Develops and initiates research protocols in association with the physician.

Acts as a liaison for the patient who is participating in a research anizes and records study data.Participates in the presentation of clinical findings.

Participates in patient care conferences, grand rounds, and / or other educational programs.Preoperative : Performs preoperative patient assessment.

Performs preoperative teaching for patient and family. Assists in scheduling of surgical procedures and workups as outlined by the supervising physician.

Acts as liaison between surgical and medical staff, consulting services, other hospital departments and the patient and family.

Answers patient and family questions and communicates concerns to patient care team. Assists in discharge planning. Prepares documentation for physicians, verifies that all post op appointments are correct and reviewed with municates with social worker when appropriate.

Regularly reviews patient's medical progress postoperatively and notes evaluation.Also communicates any deviation from normal clinical progress to appropriate attending physician for evaluation.

Documents daily nursing progress notes in a clear, concise, logical order as outlined by supervising physician. Performs anyNOTE : The above stated duties are intended to outline those functions typically performed by individuals assigned to this classification.

Other duties as assigned.Education : Graduates of an accredited school of nursing.Bachelor of Science in nursing preferred.

Knowledge of infection control practices. Is cognizant of the physical and general characteristics of the various age related groups as observed by the charge nurse, director of nursing and physician staff.

Demonstrates knowledge of nursing theory, diseases and therapeutics and is able to recognize changes in patient status, report pertinent information to physician, nurse, charge nurse, and intervene appropriately as situation occurs.

Certifications : Current State Registered Professional Nurse License (RN).Basic Life Support (BLS) plexity of Work : All employees are expected to meet the standards of performance outlined in the Organizational-Wide Competencies listed below as applied to the position : World Class Service Orientation : Includes attitude, behavior, interpersonal skill, and problem solving that enable an employee to respond to internal and external customer needs and expectations in a positive manner.

SupervisoryResponsibilities (if applicable) : Includes overall accountability for assigned work group relative to operational goals, personnel requirements, and budgetary constraints.

Work Experience : Minimum 2 years operating room experience required.Physical Requirements : Essential Duties : This position requires knowledge of all aspects of patient care including assessing;

planning, coordinating, monitoring and evaluating the patients progress through the entire continuum of care. Work is heavy, constant lifting and moving patients, carrying equipment, supplies and material up to 50 pounds without help and over 50 pounds with the help of mechanical devices or other personnel.

Stooping, pushing and pulling when moving patient or equipment into position for treatment. Reaching for, handling, feeling and manipulation of equipment into position.

Physical Duties : This position requires frequent walking, sitting, and standing. Frequent talking and listening when giving instructions and explanations.

Frequent use of the phone; fax machines, and occasional use of the computer.Working Conditions : The majority of time the employee spends indoors in air-conditioned areas.

Potential for exposure to blood and blood borne pathogens is significant. Clinical exposure to patients requires the use of personal protective equipment.

Local travel with own transportation required. Work in retracted surgical area at times-temperature between 60-70 degrees.

Personal Protective Equipment : This position requires high exposure to infectious wastes such as blood and bodily fluids that mandate the wearing of gloves, masks, gowns, and goggles as appropriate.
