About The Position

Job Title : Registered Nurse Job Specialty : Wound Care Job Duration : 6 months Shift : Monday - Friday, 8 : 00 AM - 5 : 00 PM Guaranteed Hours : Not specified Experience : 3 years of recent wound care coordinator experience required License : Must have an RN license Certifications : Must hold certification in WOCN, CWS, or WCC;

BLS certification required through the American Heart Association Must-Have : Experience with electronic medical records (EMR) Job Description : Manage the facility's wound care program, including standards of care and practice for wound, ostomy, and continence patient care.

• Provide direct patient care and assist staff nurses while acting as a consultative service to affiliated healthcare agencies.
• Develop and implement the facility wound care program in line with national standardization processes.- Establish standards of care, competencies, and effective, cost-efficient wound care policies for all clinical staff.
• Act as a primary consultant to wound care clinicians and advocate with physicians.- Educate staff on products available for use in the hospital and evaluate all wounds upon admission and ongoing for early problem identification.
• Provide consultation on patients with pressure injuries and any wound that does not show measurable healing within two weeks.
• Assist, in consultation with physicians, in developing an appropriate plan of care for comprehensive wound management.- Make evidence-based recommendations to physicians for changes to wound care orders.
• Review medical records of patients with wounds to ensure assessments, care plans, and treatments are documented accurately.
• Investigate adverse events related to wounds, complete root cause analysis, and develop action plans with nursing leadership.
• Participate in clinical outcome monitoring and agency performance improvement initiatives.- Collaborate with clinical operations staff to maintain a cost-effective wound care formulary.
• Aid in training new hire wound care coordinators within the hospital division.
