This Software Engineer II will be a member of our team that’s working to grow, mature and modernize our thriving insurance business.

This team provides tenants the most convenient way to get their belongings covered and eliminate risk. In this role, you will bring full-stack development skills to complement a team of highly skilled and specialized individuals.

You’ll help us modernize our front end and adapt our backend to create new opportunities and levels of reliability.We work collaboratively to set the technical direction for our SaaS products, developing easy-to-use solutions for our customers.

• Learn our main software development workflows and the tools that support them
• Implement solutions to reduce the friction of managing numerous services critical to the success of all of AppFolio’s product offerings.
• Analyze and quickly respond to critical issues that affect customers and internal stakeholders.
• Leverage existing tools and know-how from other teams across the organization where useful, and be able to build your own when needed.
• Analyze performance bottlenecks and implement solutions to maintain responsive and reliable service interactions.

Qualifications

• You have solid experience in programming languages, such as Ruby and / or TypeScript, and frameworks, such as Rails and / or React.
• You have solid experience with service-oriented architectures
• You are passionate about developing robust, performant, and reusable platform-level components
• You have a sense of empathy for fellow developers and understand the challenges they face to create software rapidly and of high-quality
• You have never-ending curiosity in creating well-thought-out, scalable, software development infrastructure
• You want to contribute to platform technologies leveraged across AppFolio’s entire ecosystem
• You have hands-on experience deploying and managing cloud services, using technology such as AWS, Terraform, and Kubernetes.

Must have

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or Engineering or equivalent experience
• 3+ years of experience working in software engineering
• Proficient in working in an agile environment
• Collaborate effectively as a member of a geographically distributed team
• Ability to think pragmatically and effectively balance business outcomes with technical goals
• Ability to establish strong working relationships with peers and teammates

Compensation & BenefitsThe base salary that we reasonably expect to pay for this role is $106,000 - $160,000.The actual base salary / hourly wage for this role will be determined by a variety of factors, including but not limited to the candidate’s skills, education, experience, etc.

Please note that base pay is one important aspect of a compelling Total Rewards package. The base pay range indicated here does not include any additional benefits or bonuses that you may be eligible for based on your role and / or employment type.
