We are seeking a dedicated and experienced School Sign Language Interpreter to join our team and provide one-on-one support for a kindergarten student.
This full-time position requires a high level of proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL), specifically Level 4 or 5 certification.
The successful candidate will play a crucial role in facilitating communication and ensuring an inclusive educational experience for the student.
Key Responsibilities :
- Provide one-on-one sign language interpretation for a kindergarten student throughout the school day.
- Facilitate effective communication between the student, teachers, and peers.
- Support the student's understanding and engagement with the curriculum and classroom activities.
- Assist in the development and implementation of individualized education plans (IEPs) as needed.
- Collaborate with teachers, staff, and parents to ensure the student's educational needs are met.
- Maintain confidentiality and adhere to ethical standards in all interactions.
Qualifications :
- Must possess Level 4 or 5 certification in American Sign Language (ASL).
- Proven experience in sign language interpretation, preferably in an educational setting.
- Strong understanding of the needs and challenges faced by deaf or hard-of-hearing students.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
- Patience, empathy, and a passion for working with young children.
- Ability to work collaboratively with a team of educators and support staff.
