Job Description

This technical Digital Product Manager will be responsible for defining, delivering, and managing the lifecycle of our Container Platform in our strategic Platform as a Service portfolio.

Digital Product Managers are responsible for managing strategic product vision, product discovery, roadmaps, and backlog to maximize value provided by their product.

Successful Product Managers help to identify assumptions and validate those assumptions using product discovery techniques.

The Container Platform Digital Product Manager will be responsible for building key relationships and working closely with stakeholders and partners, ensuring delivery of measurable outcomes focused on our Kubernetes-based container platform across our data centers, AWS, and Azure cloud environments that are core to Allstate's development strategy.

The Container Platform product team is responsible for integrating a wide variety of vended and open-source technologies creating a self-healing, scalable, secure container platform that delivers a consistent, frictionless hosting experience ensuring every digital product can thrive without boundaries.

Technologies include but are not limited to Kubernetes, network, DNS, servers, load balancers, service mesh, flux, image management, CI / CD tools, scripts, YAML, TFE, security, etc.

The Digital Product Manager is a highly technical hands-on role.

Digital Product Managers are also responsible for actively participating in our learning culture, including coaching and mentoring product teams, stakeholders, and peers.

Key Responsibilities :

  • Create, drive and execute product strategy for our expanding Kubernetes container platform.
  • Craft and execute a comprehensive product roadmap, prioritizing features and enhancements.
  • Collaborate with stakeholders to define what needs to be true to meet intended outcomes, ensuring a deep understanding of platform and Digital product team needs.
  • Navigate complex container technologies, leveraging insights to inform product decisions.
  • Decompose complex problems into smaller manageable tasks by creating and prioritizing tasks.
  • Develop and execute both an internal and external communications strategy for marketing your product.
  • Define and manage metrics to measure the success of your efforts and to inform the overall product strategy.
  • Engage in discovery / test & learn activities to quickly validate assumptions and product direction.
  • Manage the product backlog, create an effective vision, and provide timely stakeholder feedback on development iterations.

Essential Qualifications :

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent experience.
  • 5+ years relevant new product or technology development experience working in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience with Platform as a Service / Container Orchestration software, such as Kubernetes, OpenShift, and Docker.
  • Basic understanding of Kubernetes container platform concepts and comfortable executing Kubectl commands.
  • Solid understanding and experience of cloud services across multiple venues.
  • Solid understanding of the concepts of infrastructure-as-code and immutable infrastructure.
  • Clear passion for topics of technology products and an ability to identify possibilities to innovate in our product space.
  • Experience operating in an environment driven by KPIs where you have the accountability to determine the best course of action to meet your goals.
  • Ability to communicate complex and innovative concepts to a new product development team.
  • Proficiency in agile ceremonies and methodologies i.e., iterations, technical story writing, point systems, and refinements.
  • Effectively lead and collaborate across boundaries with technical and non-technical resources to implement decisions and / or initiatives.
  • Excellent written / verbal communication and facilitation skills for communicating at all levels (employees and leaders);

including strong presentation skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, analytical, time management, and organizational skills.
  • Comfort with ambiguity and able to independently drive resolution of issues and challenges.
  • Ability to be self-directed and to proactively anticipate problems and seek opportunities.

Desirable Qualifications :

  • Knowledgeable with API development and comfortable with API testing and basic SQL database queries.
  • Entrepreneurial with a strong inclination towards action, preferably with experience shipping software.
  • Actual experience working in any project that successfully leverages continuous integration and continuous delivery.

Compensation :

Compensation offered for this role is $112,000.00 - 196,750.00 annually and is based on experience and qualifications.
