The Opportunity
Are you ready to make a difference in the lives of others? Join us at CSL Plasma, where you will play a vital role in evaluating donor suitability for automated pheresis procedures. As part of our dedicated team, you will administer and supervise approved immunizations (excluding red blood cell immunizations) and provide essential emergency medical care to donors and staff.
You will report directly to the Center Manager and be an integral part of our mission to save lives.
The Role
- Foster Positive Relationships : Promote a welcoming atmosphere for all donors.
- Conduct Confidential Interviews : Gather necessary information to assess donor suitability.
- Collaborate with Medical Professionals : Work alongside the Center Medical Director and / or Center Physician to address medically related inquiries.
- Perform Health Assessments : Review medical histories and health assessments to determine donor eligibility.
- Provide Support : Notify and counsel donors on reactive test results and refer them for follow-up care.
- Explain Informed Consent : Clearly communicate procedures, risks, and immunization schedules to donors.
- Handle Emergencies : Provide routine care during medical emergencies and ensure emergency kits are stocked and up-to-date.
- Review Test Results : Assess donor suitability based on laboratory tests and maintain knowledge of relevant policies.
- Monitor Donor Health : Identify signs that may affect a donor's ability to continue donating.
- Oversee Immunization Programs : Manage donor immunization schedules and review antibody titer results.
- Maintain Accurate Records : Ensure donor data is recorded accurately in our electronic management system.
- Promote Safety : Maintain a clean work environment and adhere to health and safety regulations.
- Confidentiality is Key : Safeguard all personnel, donor, and center information.
- Cross-Training Opportunities : Be open to learning in other areas to support our business needs.
- Bilingual Skills : May be required to enhance communication with our diverse donor base.
- Additional Duties : Perform other job-related tasks as assigned.
Your Skills and ExperienceEducation
Graduation from a paramedic, nursing, physician assistant, chiropractic, medical school, or naturopathic medical training program.Must have an active state licenseOR, state certification as an Advanced-EMT (AEMT).If graduated from a foreign allopathic or osteopathic medical school, must be currently licensed as a physician.Experience
Minimum of one (1) year of experience in a healthcare environment.Experience in a plasma or whole blood collection center or other regulated environment is preferred.Ability to conduct physical assessments and analyze health indicators.Strong communication skills to educate donors and staff about plasma donation benefits.Working Conditions
Ability to make impactful decisions within your work unit.Strong comprehension of oral and written instructions.Must be able to interact with customers and observe equipment operations.Occasional standing and walking for extended periods.Ability to assess skin and other abnormalities through various senses.Physical dexterity to reach, bend, kneel, and lift up to 25 pounds.Fast-paced environment with frequent interruptions.Exposure to hazardous chemicals, extreme temperatures, and bloodborne pathogens.Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) is required for specific tasks.Willingness to work overtime and extended hours as needed.Our Benefits
