Duties and responsibilities are assigned in accordance with the workload guidelines laid out in the pattern of administration of each faculty department and, as appropriate, regional campus;

Clinical faculty are teacher / practitioners and will be engaged primarily in teaching activities. amp;nbsp;These faculty normally have earned doctorate or other terminal degree in the relevant field or equivalent experience.

The Ohio State University, Division of Human Genetics and the Division of Hematology, is seeking a dynamic genetic counselor for a clinical excellence faculty position in the growing clinical care area of benign hematology genetics.

This position offers an exciting opportunity to contribute to cutting-edge clinical care, and research in the Hemostasis and Thrombosis Treatment Center and Hemoglobinopathy Programs, leveraging our state-of-the-art facilities and collaborative environment.

In addition to clinical and research responsibilities, the role involves active engagement in teaching and mentoring. The candidate will play a role in shaping the next generation of genetic counselors through seminars, course instruction, and clinical rotation supervision.

This position also includes opportunities to collaborate with multidisciplinary teams, including clinicians, PhDs, and basic scientists, fostering a synergistic approach to Hematological research and clinical care.

Performance Objectives

Clinical faculty members are dedicated to academic clinical practice, education, and translational research in adult genetic specialties.

Our genetic counselor faculty collaborate closely with physicians and staff throughout The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center.

Responsibilities include active participation in the provision of clinical genetic services in our Hemostasis and Thrombosis Treatment Center clinics;

teaching genetic counseling graduate students, medical students, residents, and fellows; building out new clinical service areas, and working on a translational benign hematology genetics research program.

Education and Experience Requirements

Required : Degree in Genetic Counseling

Faculty Defined

Clinical faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with titles of assistant professor-clinical, associate professor-clinical and professor-clinical.

These faculty will have earned a doctor of medicine (MD), doctorate (PhD) orother terminal degree in the relevant field.

Clinical faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms of three to five years. They may be reappointed to successive terms.

Their principal careerfocus is the delivery of exemplary clinical care, and may include teaching, and / or research.

Tenure-Track faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of assistant professor, associate professor, orprofessor who are eligible for tenure or who have obtained tenure.

These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD), Doctor of Medicine (MD) or other terminal degree in the relevant field of study.

Their primary careerfocus centers on research, service, and teaching.Tenure-track faculty with MD or MD / PhD degrees may also beinvolved in clinical care.

Research Faculty (regardless of rank)- Persons with the titles of research assistant professor, research associateprofessor, or research professor.

These faculty will have earned a doctorate(PhD) or other terminal degree inthe relevant field of study.Research faculty members are not eligible for tenure and areappointed for terms ofone to five years.

Their principal careerfocus is research.

The Division of Human Genetics, housed within the Department of Internal Medicine, has a current team of 2 MD faculty members, 4 PhD faculty members, 1 PharmD faculty member, and 20 genetic counselor faculty members;
