The UCLA School of Dentistry invites applications for full-time faculty to serve as Director of the Advanced Education Program in Pediatric Dentistry.
This full-time faculty position will be at the level of Associate or Full Professor in the Health Sciences Clinical series (non-tenure track).
The position is available immediately, and the search will remain open until the position has been filled. The Section of Pediatric Dentistry is recognized for clinical and academic excellence, up-to-date clinical facilities, and offers a supportive research environment.
Numerous opportunities are available for clinical and / or research collaboration within the Dental School, and other UCLA health schools.
Reporting to the Chair of the Section of Pediatric Dentistry, the selected individual will have primary responsibilities in the recruitment, training, and supervision of postgraduate students specializing in Pediatric Dentistry.
It is expected that the Program Director will provide leadership in clinic operations and program curriculum and implementation and ensure that the program complies with the requirements of the Commission on Dental Accreditation.
The Program Director will work with the chair in strategic planning and fiscal management. Specific duties will include delivery of didactic courses, clinical education and research project supervision of postgraduate students, and management of clinical staff.
The Program Director will collaborate with the Predoctoral Program Director for the clinical education of dental students and also be expected to work collaboratively with other sections and advanced education programs to deliver interdisciplinary courses and patient care.
An opportunity for part-time intramural practice will be available.
The position calls for a mature mentor with recognized interpersonal skills who can provide an evidence-based approach to post-graduate education and clinical care.
The ability to develop collegial working relationships with students, staff, and faculty and to provide a positive environment is expected.
Experience in teaching research methodology to postdoctoral residents and supervising the research of postdoctoral residents and postgraduate doctoral candidates are highly desirable.
Academic rank and salary will be commensurate with qualifications and experience.
Applicants must possess (1) a DMD / DDS degree or equivalent, (2) a certificate of completion of a postgraduate training program in Pediatric Dentistry, (3) a California dental license or special permit in dentistry (or be eligible to obtain), and (4) board certification by the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry.
A track record of outstanding patient care is desirable, as well as a demonstration and commitment to diversity. Possession of a moderate sedation permit with pediatric endorsement is desirable but not required.
