Job Description

The Associated Students of the University of Nevada (ASUN) is made up of every undergraduate student at the University of Nevada.

ASUN provides a means for students to voice concerns and address issues at the university, local, state, national, and international levels.

Responsibilities

The duties of an ASUN Programmer are as follows :

Programmers shall plan all Department events and initiatives

Programmers shall be required to attend scheduled Department of Event Programming meetings unless the presiding officer grants an excused absence prior to the meeting convening

Programmers shall mentor and educate Event Programming Intern(s) that the Programmers may be assigned to

Programmers shall serve as liaisons to other ASUN departments and assist them with any Event Program inquiries

Programmers will use the data provided by the Assistant Director to guide their planning of future programs

Responsible for attending all ASUN retreats, and trainings as decided by the Director of Programming and the Director of Executive Outreach

Uploading all relevant documents to the NevadaBox within two weeks of the event.

Required Qualifications

Candidate must be enrolled at the University of Nevada, Reno

During my tenure in this appointed position, I agree to adhere to the following guidelines :

Maintain a 2.00 GPA and be enrolled in at least 7 credits

Perform all duties and instructions outlined by the ASUN Governing Documents

Uphold the Nevada Student Code of Conduct

Meet all deadlines set forth, attend all required meetings and training, work scheduled hours, properly complete and submit HR paperwork on time, assist in the promotion of the mission of ASUN and Nevada, behave in a manner that is ethical, maintain a high level of integrity

Other duties as called upon by my position

I understand if I do not adhere to the items outlined in this agreement or what is stated in the ASUN Governing Documents, my position may be subject to disciplinary action by the ASUN Judicial Council and / or the University of Nevada.

Preferred Qualifications

Prior experience in planning, coordinating, or marketing events through course of study, previous work experience, or extracurriculars

Creativity to conceptualize, articulate, and execute event ideas appealing to a diverse student body

Willingness to learn marketing strategies and collaborate with others to attract participants to events

Motivation to further the goals and initiatives under the Impact Nevada platform, through :

Boosting ASUN Welcome Week attendance by optimizing event formats for capacity and introducing diverse activities to cater to the student body’s varied interests

Consistently utilizing student feedback from events to optimize event formats and logistics

Considering fiscal efficiency in event planning, weighing alternatives to maximize community-building and minimize unnecessary costs

Seeking funding opportunities through community partnerships and sponsorships

Drive to prioritize inclusion, and accessibility in event programming to ensure events reflect diverse perspectives, cultures, and interests in the planning process

Passion for student engagement and desire to enhance the overall student experience through engaging and memorable events

Flexibility and adaptability within role; ability to time manage and prioritize tasks in a team-environment

Willingness to mentor an intern during the fall and spring semesters

Compensation Grade

Student Employee Level 1

$3,000 distributed evenly over a 12-month period in a single-term

This ASUN Student Leader position is an appointed member of the student government.
