SANY’s Citizenship and Science Academy of Syracuse Elementary school is excited to announce the opening of a School Guidance Counselor (Grades K-5) for the 2024-2025 Academic Year.

We are looking for a dynamic and creative School Guidance Counselor . We have a great environment for new staff members and encourage experienced staff to apply! New York State Certification required .

We need School Guidance Counselor who will :

• Must be skilled at working with K-5 school grades who may have emotional, family or scholastic difficulties.
• Have good communication skills enabling them to communicate effectively with school staff, families and community members.
• Ability to problem-solving is critical for this position, as school counselors must resolve personal disputes on a daily basis.
• Collaborate with staff to determine charter requirement for the instructional goals, objectives and methods
• Have excellent content knowledge and pedagogy
• Welcome the use of analytics and data to help drive instruction and promote learning
• Appreciate regular feedback, accountability and the rewards that come with doing a great job serving our students & communities

What you need

Qualifications :

• Bachelor’s degree in Counseling required ; Master's degree preferred
• NYS Counseling Certification
• Experience with a diverse population of students or in an urban setting a plus
• Prior experience preferred and novice counselors encouraged to apply!
• Fingerprint clearance through NYS Department of Education
