REPORTS TO : School Principal
CLASSIFICATION : Covenant
WORK SCHEDULE : 24 hours / week based on school calendar
BENEFITS : This position is part time and does not include a benefits package.
PAY : Based on pay scale placement
I. POSITION PURPOSE To promote an understanding of God through the study of religion and humanities courses.
- To develop in each student a love of learning.
- To discover an appreciation for God's creation.
- To stimulate thought and imagination that touches a student's heart, mind, soul and spirit.
II. MAJOR DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Planning and providing clear and intentional focused instruction.
- Assessment, reporting, and regular communication with parents.
- Use a variety of instructional strategies to meet the diverse needs of 5th grade students.
- Maintain, as fully as possible, the established routines and procedures of the school and first grade classroom.
- Assume responsibility for overseeing student behavior in class and during morning recess and other activities.
- Attend all professional development activites on early-release days, staff work days, and occasional evenings.
- Maintain appropriate records including daily attendance.
- Report to the principal any incidents of misbehavior.
- Follow all school policies, rules and procedures.
III. QUALIFICATIONS
- Be a practicing Catholic.
- Hold a current Washington State Teaching Certificate or be working on these credentials.
- Meet Archdiocesan Safe Environment Standards.
- Have the ability to establish a calm, orderly classroom envitronment that values all students and their diversity as well as challenges students at their level of learning.
- Support the school by assisting with marketing efforts such as Back to School night, Open House, parent meetings, auction, and various activities and meetings as needed.
- Be open to continuing his / her own professional learning and improving his / her teaching skills.
