Job Summary
Under the general direction of the Team Lead, the CGA Service Team Member is responsible for providing customer-oriented, value-added post-award management services to UCSF Principal investigators and research administrators and university partners through : set-up, invoicing, and fiscal management of individual grants and contracts awarded by Federal, State, and private sponsors for the support of the San Francisco campus research enterprise.
The CGA Service Team Member applies university policies and office procedures; exercises judgment within defined guidelines and practices to determine appropriate actions;
manages professional relationships with customers, partners and sponsors; and balances workload to ensure required service levels are achieved and sponsor deadlines are met.
The CGA Intermediate Service Team Member manages an award portfolio with limited to significant complexity (see attachment) - any number of awards (workload volume / scope) with complexity scores of 5 or less, and up to a medium workload volume of awards with complexity scores of 6 to 15.

Department Description
The UCSF Controller's Office delivers accounting services and related systems for faculty, staff and students, all University Departments and foreign operations, the Health System, UCSF Foundation, and outside entities who have a business relationship with the University.
The Controller's Office vision is to be a trusted advisor working in partnership with faculty, staff, and students to enhance the financial stewardship of the campus and to uphold the public's trust in the institution and mission of UCSF.
The office uses sophisticated technology to account and report on $5 billion in financial activities.
The Contracts & Grants Accounting (CGA) unit of the Controller's Office supports UCSF research and education by providing collaborative and advisory post-award management and financial oversight of sponsored research and campus-based student loans.
- The CGA unit is responsible for managing award set-up, billing, collections, financial and effort reporting, and closeout of sponsored research contracts and grants;
- monitoring compliance with applicable federal, state, local, or other sponsor regulations and requirements as well as University policies;
- collaborating wsith principal investigators, research administrators, sponsors, the Office of Sponsored Research (pre-award), and other camps and University departments;
and counseling students with regard to student loans, and collecting repayment on those loans.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related area and / or equivalent combination of education and work experience.
- 1 - 3 years of professional experience in accounting, auditing, or other related field

Preferred Qualifications
- 21 credit hours in Accounting
- Relevant work experience with University of California (UC); experience with UC pre- or post-award highly preferred
- Demonstrated competence in Compliance Management, Influencing / Negotiating, and Customer Service
- Demonstrated Accountability, Empathy, Decisiveness, Self-Direction, Technical Credibility, and Subject Matter Expert
