Job Summary

Reporting to the Dean of Students, the Case Manager is a full-time, academic year position that helps to support students in need of behavioral intervention, both personally and academically.

This role also serves as a Student Success Advisor within the Dean of Students Office.

Job Duties

65% - Student Support : Offers one-on-one support to individual students needing connection to personal support resources and guidance related to academics.

With an understanding of academic policies and processes (Medical Leave of Absence, Special Petitions for Consideration, etc.

offers support related to Student Success Advisor functions. In certain cases, performs ongoing case-management with particular students.

Maintains multiple weekly office hours within the Dean of Students Office. Becoming familiar with campus resources while establishing relationships with colleagues throughout the college, communicates with professors and others as appropriate when a student is unable to participate in class or other activities (work, sports, etc.

due to serious illness, injury, and / or hospitalization. - (Essential)

10% - Oxy Student Behavioral Intervention Team : Offers support related to student threat assessment cases that emerge on campus.

Serves as a member of the Student OBIT and engages in continual training and education on threat assessment best practices in higher education. - (Essential)

  • 15% - Campus Committees : Serves on divisional and interdivisional campus committees. - (Essential)
  • 10% - Training & Education : Assists with training and educating the campus community on supporting struggling students and how to utilize the Care Team and other support resources. - (Essential)

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in education, psychology, social work, communications or other fields related to position responsibilities.
  • Three years of experience performing case management with applicable areas in higher education institutions.
  • Working understanding and demonstrated ability to comply with and apply relevant federal and state laws as well as school policies focusing on student psychological health and life experience in a college or university.

Ability to analyze, synthesize and organize data, and present findings in a comprehensible manner for different audiences.

  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint), Google drives / folders / forms, Adobe Acrobat, Web Editing, and social media applications or any combination of productivity programs applicable to position responsibilities.
  • Demonstrated ability to be detail-oriented and thorough; skilled at anticipating and preventing potential problems and handling a wide variety of tasks with efficiency and accuracy.
  • Strong commitment to a quality work product.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate verbally, in writing and electronically.
  • Effective interpersonal skills as evidenced in the ability to collaborate with a variety of constituencies. Demonstrated commitment to justice, equity, inclusion & diversity.
  • Demonstrated skill in adapting to and performing work effectively in high-volume, high accountability, confidential environment with multiple and changing priorities.
  • Effective organizational, logistical, time management and planning skills with the ability to manage and prioritize multiple tasks / projects simultaneously, prioritize and fulfill the functions of an office in a timely manner.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently.
  • Ability to provide effective leadership and training, and to work effectively and professionally across functions, disciplines, levels, and with diverse groups.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Master’s degree in education, psychology, social work, communications or other fields related to position responsibilities.
  • Five years of progressively responsible experience in case management in a Student Affairs higher education environment.

EXPECTED HIRING RANGE : $28.00 / hr - $32.00 / hr
