We are looking for a Dispatch Lead to join our Operations Team.

The Dispatch Lead will be responsible for leading the day-to-day operations of the dispatch desk as well as dispatching of CPower customers during electrical grid emergencies. The Dispatch Lead will need to understand and appropriately handle any ISO directives as they relate to CPower’s general operations in demand response arena. The Dispatch Lead will have to interact with internal and external customers advising them on the potential for demand response events, as well as any current event in which CPower customers may be a part of. This role requires a seasoned professional with years of experience in demand response dispatching, able to exercise a high degree of independence and make critical, time-sensitive decisions with minimal oversight pertaining to CPower compliance with ISO rules and regulations.

This position is located at our office in Baltimore, MD.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Monitor and assist dispatching all Demand Response events in a moment’s notice 24x7 in all markets which CPower participates.
  • Continual review of current ISO grid conditions to advise CPower’s internal and external customers regarding specific market situations.
  • Monitor dispatch email inbox and main phone for dispatched events.
  • Maintain dispatch logs of DR events, customer issues, and act as a customer service-oriented desk either by immediately assisting the customer or escalating to the proper internal CPower team.
  • Coordinate, schedule, and adjust offers on behalf of customers to maximize potential revenue, as well as minimize exposure in various markets and ensure accuracy.
  • Develop and maintain Dispatch Standard Operating Procedures for all regions and programs in which CPower participates.
  • Attend bi-annual training to maintain relevant knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain comprehensive expertise in the full suite of CPower products across all U.S. regions.
  • Take and successfully pass a dispatch certification test annually, prior to the start of the summer season.
  • Lead and mentor dispatchers, offering guidance and support to enhance team performance and encourage professional development.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact in the event of issues or emergencies Manage dispatcher shift schedules to maintain continuous 24x7 desk coverage, with the ability to cover shifts in emergency situations.
  • Ensure system readiness by performing monthly validations and tie outs.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Engineering, Technical or equivalent applicable experience.
  • 3 – 5 years of related experience preferably in the energy industry, specifically within the demand response area.
  • Ability to independently prioritize efficiently while multi-tasking, dealing with interruptions and working in a high paced energetic environment.
  • Excellent computer skills with heavy proficiency in spreadsheet, database applications, and computer programming. Experience with VBA and Python is preferred.
  • Strong problem-solving, analytical skills, with the ability to think and work independently.
  • Strong communication skills (written and verbal) and interpersonal relationship skills.
  • Must be highly accurate, detail oriented, with high sense of urgency during dispatch periods.
  • Self-Motivated, enthusiastic, and self-starting is a must in order to excel in this position.
