Alabama State University, College of Health Sciences, Occupational Therapy, invites application for the position of Associate / Full Professor and Program Director.
The selected applicant will facilitate the academic and education-based functions of the entry-level professional program, work collaboratively with the chair of the Department to ensure success of the program, represent the department / program for ACOTE functions and participate as a member of an inter-professional team.
Duties and Responsibilities :
- Facilitate learning in a variety of formats and settings
- Engage in research or other scholarly activities
- Participate in professional development activities
- Provide service to the institution, profession and community
- Curriculum development; Recommending appropriate curricular changes to facultyAssuring curricular changes are made in accordance with accreditation requirements and COHS / University Procedures
- Interpret educational, workplace and professional organization trends and their impact on the program;
- Develop and update program policies for the department in collaboration with faculty, staff, and students;
- Manage the assignment of teaching loads and course schedules (in conjunction with the Chair) to meet ACOTE standards;
- Advise students about licensure, verifies students to test;
- Direct an advisory board;
- Chair the accreditation process, assuring any action requested by accreditation agencies occurs in a timely manner;
- Prepare and submit compliance reports, update as required and outlined by ACOTE;
- Provide program evaluation data to monitor and evaluate the outcome of the program;
- Report graduation rates, performance on state licensing certification examination, and employment rates;
- Survey outcomes;
- Serve as mentor for junior faculty and assist with faculty evaluation;
- Maintain program website
- Perform other duties as assigned.
A current Alabama State University employee with a terminal post-professional doctoral degree awarded by an accredited institution recognized by the U.
S. Department of Education, certified as an occupational therapist licensed in the state of Alabama, have 8 years of documented experience in the field of occupational therapy to include : clinical practice as an occupational therapist, administrative experience in program planning and implementation, personnel management, evaluation, and budgeting, and have 3 years of experience in a full-time academic appointment with postsecondary teaching responsibilities are required.
It is to be noted that for the purpose of continuous improvement of faculty qualifications, as faculty members complete advanced degrees, certifications, licenses, etc.
the faculty member will send official documentation, within 45 days of hire, to the Office of Human resources and the credentialing file in Academic Affairs.
OTHER SPECIAL CONSIDERATIONS :
ACOTE Requirements - The program director must be initially certified as a occupational therapist who is licensed or license eligible in Alabama.
The program director must hold a doctoral degree awarded by an institution that is accredited by an institutional body recognized by the U.
S. Department of Educators (USDE). The program director must have a minimum of 8 years of documented experience in the filed of occupational therapy.
