JOB PURPOSE The teaching assistant works with the lead teacher to meet the needs of the students in a developmentally appropriate manner and contributes to a successful Primary Years Programme (PYP).

The assistant helps to foster an atmosphere conducive to inclusive, transdisciplinary learning through the lens of inquiry, embedding visible thinking.

NOTE : This is a part-time teaching assistant position for students in Primary School. With our dual language model, part-time means following an A day / B day rotation.

Part-time staff work every other day. FLSA : Exempt Reports to : Head of Primary School Start Date : July 29, 2024 Application Deadline : July 1, 2024 RESPONSIBILITIES Support students in Spanish language development.

Collaborate closely with the lead teacher(s) to create a seamless experience for the students. Lead small groups of students in curricular activities.

Circulate through the learning environment assisting students. Help with classroom management, taking over the class if the teacher is out of the room.

Carry out supervision duties (recess, lunch, etc ) and support with the preparation of classroom materials. Provide ongoing feedback to students about their learning growth.

Ideal candidates will have experience with various pedagogical approaches and will be excited by the opportunity to teach a diverse student body in an inquisitive and inquiry-based environment.

The ideal candidate has demonstrated effective equitable and inclusive practices within and outside the classroom. A passion for working with Primary School students, a flexible attitude, a commitment to lifelong learning, and a sense of humor are essential.

REQUIRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS High level of proficiency (C1 / C2 - Advanced) in Spanish and English. An unwavering commitment to the students.

A commitment to equity, inclusion, and inquiry pedagogy, alongside a willingness to adapt and develop pedagogy to meet the needs of our learners.

An interest in understanding the principles of second language acquisition. Enthusiastic about teaching within a multicultural and multilingual environment.

Flexibility of approach and a collaborative style are essential. Interpersonal, organizational, communication, and collaborative skills.

PREFERRED EXPERIENCE / SKILLS Bachelor’s degree or equivalent Training and experience in a Primary School setting Experience with the IB PYP is desirable, but good applicants with other curriculum experience are also welcome to apply.
