Job Duties :
Sample Collection and Processing
Collect various specimens from patients, such as blood, urine, or tissues. Prepare and process specimens for analysis.
Laboratory Testing
- Perform a range of complex tests using specialized equipment in areas like hematology, clinical chemistry, microbiology, immunology, and molecular biology.
- Analyze test results and interpret findings.
Quality Control
- Monitor and ensure the accuracy and precision of laboratory equipment. Conduct routine quality control checks.
- Data Analysis and Documentation : Analyze and interpret test results. Maintain accurate records of procedures and results.
Instrumentation Maintenance
Calibrate, maintain, and troubleshoot laboratory equipment.
Communication
Communicate test results to healthcare professionals. Collaborate with the healthcare team for effective patient care.
Adherence to Protocols
Follow established protocols, procedures, and safety guidelines. Adhere to regulatory requirements and standards.
Continuing Education
- Commitment to ongoing learning and staying updated on advancements in laboratory science.
- Compliance : Clinical Laboratory Scientists are responsible for ensuring compliance with CA DPH regulations and adhering to the rules and regulations of the assigned hospitals and / or clinics.
This encompasses maintaining licensures, participating in required training, and overseeing tasks such as retrieving medical records to uphold regulatory standards.
Job Requirements :
- Chemistry, hematology, coagulation, urinalysis, and blood gas experience required.
- California Dept. of Public Health (CDPH) License Clinical Laboratory Scientist (CLS).
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Medical Technology.
- Proof of Current Continuing Education Units (CEUs).
- 1-year of experience working in an acute care facility within the past 6 months preferred.
- Preferred experience with any of the following : RocheC311, Beckmen Culture, DXH 800, Stago Compact, and Iris 2000.
- Current CPR Card issued by American Heart Association (AHA) or American Red Cross.
- Must have proof of MMR, Varicella vaccinations or titers.
- Proof of TB / PPD or Chest X-ray within the past 12 Months.
- Current Annual Health Clearance.
- Reliable source of transportation.
- Possible floating between facilities (separate days).
