What Does a School Nurse Do?
As a School Nurse, you will be responsible for managing student health and providing medical care within the school setting.
Your key responsibilities will include :
- Health Assessments : Conduct health screenings and assessments for students to identify and address any medical needs.
- Emergency Care : Provide first aid and emergency care for students experiencing illness or injuries during school hours.
- Medication Administration : Oversee and administer prescribed medications to students as per physician instructions and school policies.
- Health Education : Educate students, staff, and families on health topics, including disease prevention, nutrition, and healthy lifestyle choices.
- Record Keeping : Maintain accurate health records and documentation, including immunization records, health history, and treatment logs.
- Collaboration : Work with teachers, parents, and healthcare providers to develop and implement health plans for students with chronic conditions or special needs.

Qualifications
- Certified School Nurse : Current certification as a School Nurse in Pennsylvania (CSN) is required.
- Experience : Previous experience in a school setting or with pediatric care is preferred.
- Skills : Strong munication, organizational, and interpersonal skills. Ability to work collaboratively with students, staff, and families.
