Job Requirements
- Unit : ED
- beds : 30, 5 trauma bays
- Ratios : 1 : 4
- EMR : Cerner
- Charge Nurse : Yes, generally does not take patients, but will do break relief.
- Nurse Aides : Yes as census and staffing dictates
- Tele : Yes, must be able to read and interpret EKG strips.
- Vents : Yes
- Hospitalist or Intensivist in house : Yes, Hospitalist or Intensivist
- IV Team : No
- RT 24 / 7 : Yes
- Pharmacy 24 / 7 : Yes
- Level II Trauma experience required. (Level I Trauma experience would be a PLUS!)
- Common diagnosis / Types of patients : Primary trauma center for the area. Standard ED patients. Psych holds with security if agitated.
Schedule Information
- Weekend Requirement : Every other weekend
- Holidays : Rotate in with core staff
- Shifts : 12 hr shifts. Shift starts 645. Report is at the bedside. OT and extra shifts are available.
- Self-scheduling is used, but is not finalized until Manager balances it. Schedules are out 4 weeks.
- Travelers can access their schedules from home and make themselves "available" for extra shifts and make trades with other staff.
- Block scheduling is generally not available.
Unit Specific Information
- Floor specific orientation : 1 - 2 days on the floor with preceptor.
- Scrub Color : Navy - under shirts must be navy, white, or black. Scrub jackets are optional, must be navy.
Additional Details
- For Holiday RTO : Travelers will work 2 of the 3 major holidays (Thanksgiving, Christmas and New Years).
- Managers will make the final call on scheduling, but we will include this verbiage on the confirmation.
- Holiday time off will be considered, however not guaranteed.
- Modules are required done before start. Modules take 3-4 hours -not billable.
