As a Process Mechanical Engineer part of our team in Irvine or Los Angeles, California, you will be involved with planning, preliminary, and detailed design of pumping station systems, and water and wastewater treatment plants across Southern California.

This will include specifications, drawings, process instrumentation diagram (P&IDs), and technical reports associated with pumping system projects and treatment plant upgrades.

You will be preparing general arrangement drawings for pump stations, treatment equipment and tanks, designing piping and pumping systems as well as provide oversight of construction.

You'll also evaluate and select equipment, piping materials and valves, assist with facility layouts, develop calculations, process flow diagrams, control narratives, and construction documents.

In addition, you'll coordinate with other project disciplines, direct the work of CAD designers, and produce construction documents.

You will conduct occasional field activities such as site assessment, data collection, analysis, and documentation.

Using your leadership skills, you'll be part of a team engaged in delivering some of the most exciting projects in the region and beyond.

You'll serve on projects as the Process Mechanical Discipline Lead which is one of the most important roles on a design project.

You'll oversee process mechanical teams and provide overall leadership to projects. This role will also serve as the point of contact for our process mechanical practice which will include collaborating within the community of practice, setting standards and best practices within our region, most importantly, mentoring and growing our team.

  • Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical Engineering, Civil Engineering, or related engineering discipline from an accredited university or college.
  • Minimum of 8+ years of experience designing water, wastewater, or stormwater pumping system projects and preparing construction documents including drawings, P&IDs, specifications, control narratives, technical memoranda.
  • Active CA professional engineering (PE) license.
  • Task design lead experience on pumping systems.
  • Experience with Hydraulic Institute standards.
  • Strong analytical, conceptual, problem solving, and organizational skills.
  • Ability to effectively interface with all levels of personnel and management.
  • Ability to work and thrive in a team environment.
  • Ability to self-motivate and work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Excellent communication and technical writing skills.

Ideally, You'll Also Have :

  • Proficiency in hydraulic modeling software such as AFT Fathom, Pipe-Flo.
  • Experience with assisting in planning, cost development and management, and scheduling.
  • Experience in working with construction management staff to ensure that construction, installation, and testing conform to specifications, codes and standards, and client requirements.
  • Experience during construction including installation, startup, and / or troubleshooting.
  • Proficiency in Microstation and / or Autodesk design suites.
